Thanks for the video comparison. I’ve been following both D air & Tech Air for some time. I ultimately went with the Misano D air. Both systems are well researched and provide better protection than without. Hopefully those who wear these won’t need it but better to have it in the event of an accident. Almost no one expects needing one, but after spending 4 months recovering from my last crash, and a month of recovery from the one before that, (both times, fully geared head to toe, except for airbags) you better believe that I was going to make the investment into better injury protection going forward. Even with GP rated gear, it doesn’t take much to break ribs, thoracic, and cervical bones in an off. Ask me how I know. 4 days in ICU trauma is not something I want to ever repeat, so I’m doing what I can to minimize that as I choose to continue to ride. Glad that D air & Tech air exist. Many thanks to both companies for continuing to do what they can to help keep us protected. 🙏🏻

I just asked a friend if air bags are good for the street and his response was na can only use them really on track.. 🤔 I thought any protection is better than none... can I ask what made you pick dainese. I am after an air bag suit for the street... is it true you cannot use a d air if you have a rucksack?.would love to hear your feedback

@@smokey9063 Dainese has the most research in safety and airbags for specific motorcycle use, so I trust their engineering and experience (good enough for Rossi, good enough for me) but also I like the coverage, versatility and value.

@@evolv.e fair point if good enough for rossi.. my mate said no point for the street .. I thought what.. surly better than nothing.. so would you said get the one you can afford.. I like the mugello but its expensive.. wondering if it's worth the extra over the other dainese d air suits

Thanks for the info about needing to register the unit. If buying a used one, that is an important thing to know before hand. Transferring ownership properly would save a lot of headaches later

Another thing to consider: The aero humps on most suits does not provide practical advantage. The cooling channel is helpful i admit. Personally I don’t ride fast enough to need aero assistance they give. However this does perform a disservice in a crash. The hump on the back affects how your body may come to rest after a crash. Just to give yourself a personal insight on this, put your suit on and lay on your back on the ground like you just crashed. Observe what this does to your spine and the pressures it creates and how it CAN contort your spine. If EMTs have to address you after a crash, there’s a very good chance you’re going to be laying on your back. They are trained to have to deal with the hump because the hump is a known problem for them. Google the topic if you want to see that topic. It’s just something to think about. It is a personal decision I think everyone should have the ability to make for themselves. Just adding here it might be a purchase decision point for you.

But the hump is also useful because your head is less likely to whiplash!

I have a Dainese full suit, size 52 (U.S LARGE) is there an internal air bag vest that I can us with my suit? I am currently using the MGP vest from Helite.

Probably the best vid on the nitty gritty details. Question about the Dainese; what's the service interval on the bag? If you don't crash, you still gotta pay to have it serviced and I know with Astars, it's every 2 years max, 6 months to a year if used more often and I believe costs $100. What is it on the Dainese?

Did you get an answer that's a great question.. I am wanting an air suit so looking at pros and cons

Not long after this video was made, Dainese released a D air Smart Jacket that can be worn with any jacket, under or over, or even by itself. Priced between $550-$700 depending on who the seller is, it’s a great price point that many riders should be able to afford. Making this tech more available to all riders fulfills Lino Dainese’s goal of protecting as many riders as possible. Grazie ❤️

That is a great design on your suit, what kind of silver is that?

Trying to choose between the Dainese system vs Tech-air (both street and race versions). I noticed that you didn’t demonstrate Neck protection (restriction of neck movement), kidney protection, rib protection along the mid-axillary line or sternum protection. Even on the track, if you are unfortunate enough to have another rider hit you (or even your own bike), these areas are also vulnerable (as they are on the street)...? Also, what are the territory of protection between the Tech-air race vs the Tech-air Street? How do those territories differ between the comparable versions in the D-air systems...?

@Private Privacy A tethered system is much slower and much worse at detecting a crash though, and more inconvenient as well. Those are pretty big downsides.

Sheesh this is one of the reason I went with D air: www.rideapart.com/articles/304622/daineses-german-injunction-against-alpinestars/ The coverage, rider reviews, and company airbag experience, and other factors also led me to choose Dainese’s airbag system.. and I’ve been wearing A*’s for years. Ultimately, wearing either is better than no airbag at all.

Astars and dainese probably have 100x the research in these systems compared to helite. They know where the protection is needed
