That's such a great hack. I love how you've added the veneers to the fronts and adding legs really gives it a cool look. I'm a terror for collecting legs. I've even unscrewed feet or legs of an abandoned sofa or two that are beyond repair for anything else. They really vamp up a piece. Love all those little drawers so handy for hobbies. Thanks for sharing and inspiring as always x

I think what you have done with that room is stunning. It does bring a calming effect to one's spirit. A nice cup of hot tea after a relaxing bath at the end of the day, a pencil and some drawing paper and let the creativity flow. ☺

I love it! Ikea furniture was my best investment ever, I wish I had not spent thousands on other stuff. I have had an Alex for almost ten years. It holds all my paper punches, cutters, rubber stamps, Sizzix dies. The other I cannot live without is the Kallax (formerly Expedit)...oh the best for craft spaces! Cheeky thumbs up my favorite ray of Irish sunshine! xx

Love it!! You did a superb job transforming a plain, practical piece of furniture with your own personal style. My sister did something similar with an old dresser she found and now it’s pride of place in her newly renovated trailer. Making furniture personal makes all the difference in the world to a space.

I have a 2 bedroomed townhouse which is quite large. I used to have a craft shop so I have a ton of things in the craft room. The other day I was helping my crafter friend pack up her house as she's miving. It made me realise just how much stuff I've got and don't use. Once our weather here in Cyprus cools down im going to have a good sort out. I live the Ikea hack and I'm looking forward to seeing what you've done to your office. I'm also painting a couple of walls in my lounge in Willow green.

If you box in each of the legs with the same plywood you used on the drawers, (a simple topless, bottomless box glued onto the legs) it would match the stain better. Lovely project.

Clever girl, you've done it again. Gives a nod to a map or drafting cabinet to me. Changing the leg colour is a great idea. Just dyed a blekinge white, cover for the Ektorp storage footstool a smoke grey to match a sofa of someone I was passing the footstool onto - dyed like a dream! Guess I don’t regard Ikea as throwaway though as the design is so strong and the pieces lend themselves to re-thinking of use/appearance. (which Ikea encourage) Your re-imagining turned out very nicely too

@janetbyrne77654 жыл бұрын
Katherine, you are so clever and have such a creative mind that sees possibilities! You did an excellent job cutting a straight line and that is hard with a jigsaw! If you have some thicker lumber to cut, you might try clamping a long timber (like a 1’x4’ in the US) along the line you draw, thereby making a cutting jig. Also, my darling girl, if you are using a drill you MUST either put your hair in a bun or braid it or tuck your ponytail where it will NOT be caught by the drill when you bend over. It would be a disaster. I was so nervous watching your hair I could hardly stand it! Thank goodness nothing happened. Listen to the voice of experience! I love the look of the chest of drawers you made over. If you painted the legs metallic it would look very mid-century modern, but I like the idea of them being the same color as the body of the piece.
