I used to watch you when I was pregnant with my first baby 3 years ago, you had about 10K subs, and I had a lot of time on my hands I remember once, I was sick with nausea, and lying down, I said to my husband, "I want to go to Ireland" he said "why" ... "Because it's so pretty" I was binge watching you... Now, 3 years and two babies later, I've played your video, and I'm hit by just how much the world has changed since then...

I’m an experienced upcycler but I thoroughly enjoyed this video. It’s very well presented, and gives a great explanation of how to start out in upcycling. I use Frenchic chalk paint most of the time, but occasionally Farrow & Ball. If you want to buy F & B cheaper there are websites that will mix their colours in another base paint, ie I’m in the process of decorating my house and I have F & B colours mixed in Johnstone’s Covaplus trade emulsion. I’m in the U.K. and rather than £85 for a 5 litre tin of F & B’s own I pay £27 on a site called Decorating Warehouse. I know this is emulsion but they do mix all other types of paint this way, and as you can see it’s a massive saving. Thanks for your great video and I’m now a subscriber!

Such great advise especially about prepping. You are so right. I painted an acrylic sealer over white paint on my kitchen cabinets and it turned it yellow. And the paint also, peels, off, since I did not sand .

Hi Catherine from Atlanta Georgia USA. The side table turned out beautifully. What you mentioned about chalk paint is true, when the product was new it was indicated, just paint and you're done, but pieces do have to be prepped and sealed.

Hey girl 🙂 curing time is a killer. I want to use my furniture sooner ..and if you ever feel time flys by, it will Show you how ....slow.... it really is. Chalk paint was totally the craze and not saying I still wouldn't use again, but by the time I'm done waxing ... Buffing .. its so much work, and yes, not the best when you wish to change it up. I was certainly reeled in with Annie Sloan and brushes back at that time. You did a nice job on what you call a locker, night or side table in the U.S.A. Thanks for your thoughts on your video. I wish you put this out last week ! Painted bar stools with chalk paint that kept scraping off. Went to wax with the round brush and bristle took paint right off! I put them out on the patio to work on them AGAIN next day. Rained during night and my stools were in puddles of the brown paint that just clumped off! What a mess! I've just finished scrubbing them clean and bought spray paint. I'm hoping this will work. Idk why this happened as wood painted white. I didn't sand per chalk paint instructions... thinking that was my first mistake!

Hello Catherine, what kind of rollers do you choose to paint your furniture? Foam or those used for lacquer? And how do you clean the brushes/ rollers after you finish your projects? Water or some sort of solvent? By the way I love your videos and you have inspired me to unleash my creativity. Just adding, I am in the chalk paint fase, I say fase because as soon as I get more experienced in this craft I believe I will evolve to satin/ eggshel paint.
