I'm a domestic cleaner too. I thought all of my clients would be super rich, and the cleaning would be a luxury. Absolutely not the case. I work for 'normal' people. But they are at full stretch with work, family and handling other responsibilities or health issues. It's a privilege to help them out and they allow me to pay my bills. Win win. If you can afford it (and not all can I accept that), get a cleaner and get it off your to do list. You are busy and your time is precious x

Catherine I've been watching you since you used to sell at craft fairs. 🙂 I'm one of you older (age wise) subs. I love following and learning from all your projects and travels. The very last thing I want to see these days is yet another carbon copy seasonal decor "haul" where the home ends up looking like a store display and the presentations are really commercials. Your home, your projects, your travels, and even your fashion reflect your personal style. I want to see beauty, gardening, unique style, and useful techniques from a woman who follows her own creativity and interests, and lives in a house that looks like an actual home she shares with her fur babies. That's exactly why I follow your channel! You are one of a kind and I love seeing glimpses of Ireland. Ireland is tops on my list for next time over the pond! Snowy greetings from the Rockies! ❄☃🌨 p.s. Happy you got a reprieve on your photo shoot! Whew!

Growing up in a large family always meant hand me downs. Not just in clothes either. We had a lot of mismatched stuff but we called it eclectic. I find myself liking the old/used over new. I still have and use my mom's dresser from when she was a girl and my grandma's bedroom furniture. As for cleaning, I find it relaxing to do house work. It takes me back to the days spending time with the grandparents. Thank you for sharing your humbleness and energy. ❤❤

Whew! I am SO relieved that your home keeping is SO normal. I'm always amused at KZbinrs who show their homes prior to a cleaning spree. Just like you, they use sentences like "my house is upside down", "I know the mess is bad". Those of us watching can feel you wincing as you show the evidence of your busy life in each room. The truth is, every one of us watching have messy spaces and living areas in our homes that need tidying, organising, decluttering and deep cleaning. I'm a commercial cleaner in a food production plant in New Zealand. It goes without saying the expectations on sanitation in a food production plant and the detail cleaning we do is mental. Do you think after a 10 hour day I'm going to come home and apply the same energy cleaning my own house? No. The reality is, when I come home, I get out of the car like an animated robot because my body is seized up - I hobble my way into the house where my hubby has a cuppa waiting, and I plonk my backside on the seat at the table and watch KZbin channels to distract my mind from the throbbing aches in all of my joints. My house is desperate for a deep clean and organising but I cannot bring myself to do it on my two days off a week. I need that 2 day break from cleaning - my body needs it! When I get a decent break from work I will get onto these tasks at home, but until then my wonderful hubby and I will hold our home together with general daily house keeping. So do not worry about what people think. You are perfect, darling - perfectly normal 😊

I felt exhausted just watching this. My one tip, which I have done and find really helps. Is, I have divided the cleaning of my home into 5 days. Ie. Bedrooms Monday. Hall, landing and stairs Tuesday, Kitchen Wednesday, Bathrooms Thursday, Lounge & Dining room Friday. After a month of doing this, it becomes routine and you find you are always on top of everything. Hope that helps ❤

Yes, I do like the longer videos. I was interested in your thoughts about learning Irish. Back in the early 70s I moved from England as a newly qualified teacher and found myself teaching 4-5 year olds, including Irish (Tá Teidi ag siúl etc) having a lot of support from colleagues and being only a couple of lessons ahead of the children! From 2002 to 2022 I lived in north Wales and learned welsh part time over 7 years after I had retired. Loved both languages and I keep thinking I would love to go back to learning Irish properly. As you say, learning languages is supposed to be good for keeping your brain in full working order. I loved living in Ireland too (Waterford and Dublin over 4 years). You are lucky to be living in such a beautiful country! 😄

Your house is so pretty. Now look, you’ve gotten a deep clean out of the way and when the shoot is over, all there’ll be to do is relax and enjoy it. As far as paying someone to clean, my feeling is you are helping the local economy by giving work to someone who does that for a living. In regards to the length of videos, I enjoy one longer video per week as opposed to two shorter ones.

I used to get Better Homes and Garden magazine and almost always felt like my house wasn’t good enough. I have not missed the magazine since my subscription was up. I love old houses. Your house has charm, solid doors, nice handles, nice trim around the windows and whatnot. You work with the nooks and crannies. If I saw your interior on a magazine it’d be one I’d grab to look at. Congrats on 300k! I’ve been watching a few years now and one day will go back to video 1 to see all the content i missed.

So enjoyed this video of just hanging out with you. Your cats may not jump up on the mantle now, but they're waiting for you to set some freshly-potted dirt with pretty flowers there for them. 🐱🐾🪴

Congratulations! It is a big deal. You put so much of yourself in all you do, and are humble as well. You and your home are real, that's what I appreciate about your videos. We can have a cluttered and dusty house from time to time, but it can be pretty as well. It is lived in: ). Why not have deep cleaning parties with your friends? It makes it fun.

I clean too if I see something is dirty. Have had my rescue cat for six weeks now and definitely more to clean up but totally worth it. I used to feel the same about having a cleaner but have had one for a few years now and it's worth every penny. Go for it. 👍- Frances

🇨🇦❤️ I love the longer videos because they’re perfect for a nice long break and that means I can relax and recharge before my next task. I’ve always referred to a quick or partial tidy as a “lick and a promise” and I’ve never heard the phrase “cats lick” before. I love watching your cats whether they’re quiet or carousing. Thanks for all your great content and I hope you keep your stress level down by not worrying about your viewers too much. I believe that we’re happy with what you share and we hope you can continue until you’re a little old lady. 😄

Anxiety, overwhelmed!! 🙈 I'm not surprised Chick!! I don't know how you do it all and not sit in the middle of the room and cry. Gosh I can so relate to the inner critic I've now given my "inner governess" a name "Morag" 😅 I find if I name her she isn't so destructive 🤪🤷‍♀️ x

I love your philosophy on homes. You inspire me with mine. It's wonderful that you discuss and show realism because it will help so many others. Unrealistic representations on social media fuel a lot of inner criticism.

I’ve found even when I had someone come clean (also something I grew up thinking was for rich people!), they didn’t clean how I wanted it anyway 😂 it was clean but I found they never got the marks from the couch or missed the window trim etc so I just do it. I have asked friends to come help! I offer the same in return :)

300K. Wow! I can see why though. I'm proud to say I've been with you since early in your KZbin career and have enjoyed every video as you've progressed & grown your channel. I remember when you hit 100k subscribers & didn't say a word. But yo0ur subscribers didn't let you off the hook & had their own little celebratory party in the chat. You've brought your adorable little home so far! So yeah, congrats to you for reaching 300k!

Hi Catherine your videos are my excuse for having a break from hectic life and enjoying a cuppa, so definitely appreciate the longer video. I loved watching the cats playing together. Totally understand the struggle of making a bed up with cats. My cat loves rolling around in the sheet and getting stuck under the fitted sheet. I am attempting to grow bulbs this year. Will be interesting to see how they go in Geraldton WA. You are very lucky to have so many garden centres you can visit ( where I live only has Bunnings) so I thoroughly enjoy when you put the visits into your videos. 🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🇦🇺
