The more I see the DaiRanger suits, the more I wish Mighty Morphin used their suits. They are AWESOME

They do have a counterpart in Super Megaforce, the Squadron Rangers, which are part of the EXTREMELY negatively-received “New Powers”, which were various Sentai teams from before Zyuranger. Their names are all references to Sentai. The Squadron Rangers’ name is a reference to what Sentai translates as. The other teams are the Dynamen, as the Battalion Rangers, Changemen, as the Blitz Rangers, Blitz is a reference to what “Dengeki” translates as, the Flashmen as the Prism Rangers, whose name references the various things in their arsenal that have that prefix, and are from some jungle planet and were killed by Astronema, the Maskmen as the Lightining Rangers, whose name references what “Hikari” translates as, that and “Light” and the Fiveman as the Supersonic Rangers who are from Xybria from Time Force and their Sixth Ranger who is a Green Ranger betrayed and killed them and became the Green Psycho Ranger. All of these teams are confirmed to be in the Power Rangers Expanded Universe and are all in the Boom Studios comics and are all from other planets and we had been confirmed that in Season 3 of Mighty Morphin that the Rangers on Earth are not the only Rangers in the universe, when they introduced the Alien Rangers of Aquitar.

Bootlegs are how I found out about Super Sentai. When I was a kid, we frequented flea markets a lot, and I found a bootleg set of a Turbo/Carranger team with pictures of ranger teams I had never seen before on the package. When I got home, I started browsing the interwebs for what these strange teams were.

Well, my paint job helped a lot... the original bootleg was the most offensive bright red color, and the stickers were terrible (and nothing could stick them down yet they were impossible to take off...making stickers that won't stick or come off is some sort of accomplishment!) Once I painted it, big improvement. It still feels super-cheap though. Just tilt it and something will pop up or go somewhere it shouldn't.

There's something about Dairanger that fascinates me. Maybe it was the "What If" aspect when in relation to MMPR Season 2, or maybe because it was such a damn good (and weird) season of Sentai. Def my favorite.

Dairanger has my favorite Zords and suits from a sentai season. I've always been sad that the suits were never brought over to Power Rangers but maybe Boom Studios can do something with them someday. I am glad I was able to get the Gaoranger Gao King preorder!

Well, for their own season at least. Zords went to season 2 (of course) along with white ranger. Morpher became Magna Defender's in Lost Galaxy, and the rest of the team finally entered the PR universe officially in Super Megaforce. So, they at least live in the PR world now. But, yeah, would love to have seen them in their own season.

We only got the White Ranger Suit and the Zords from DaiRanger I wish they could of added the 5 DaiRangers Suits as a Power Up Mode for Season 2. Its sad the Green Ranger (Tatsuya Nomi) from DaiRangers died in 2017. I miss the Twin Towers 20 years ago.

The first bootleg PR toy I ever had was the the bootleg MMPR Ninja Megazord with the Falconzord. I love that thing. I felt as though it was the real thing. As an added bonus, the bootleg mace projectiles on the side of the Ninja Frog Zord’s ankles. I think the first legit thing I had that was a Power Rangers toy may have been the Zeo weapons with the sword and blaster.

Turns out, for that bootleg of Byakkoshinken, Saba in MMPR’s counterpart in Dairanger, it’s actually not one and that sticker up there was so that people buying this wouldn’t confuse it for a Power Rangers toy. And also, with you and Mia getting those Super Sentai VHS tapes, it’s like with the Heisei Godzilla films and how you could get them, before they were fully released of course, on “Special Import” tapes. Just like what happened there

I had that same falcon zord with ninja megazord. Got it at a flea market as a kid. Always thought it was a bootleg since it didn't have electronics. Was the only megazord I ever had as a kid lol

With some modifications to the suits Dairangers could work as a Power Rangers season or two. It would allow Billy to come back as Ranger Technology Expert, who made the modern Morphers, weapons and Zords (since this adaptation won't give the original team Zords and will need new Zords.) Billy could recruit Andros to take him to Eltar and activate the next team resuming his previous role, he could even rebuilt his Morpher and had his Power Coin repaired. The story could follow the Dairanger story, with some changes to bring in Billy. The season could help lead into a special that explains the Master Morpher origins.

Great video Bruno and Mia. I love the story times Bruno, I remember you saying your dad would take you to Canal street and you'd go on your own when you got older. Cool you were able to get Sentai back in the day. Have you rewatched the movies recently? I'm kicking myself that I never went to different areas in Toronto when I was younger to see if I could find any Japanese series. I think I remember getting knock off Power Ranger/Sentai toys from dollar stores in the 90's and 2000's, they had light up visors, like a Cylon lol

I just bought the french Bioman dvd set. Even though I have a bootleg lying around. No english subs,and I can't read much french. Still,nice to own an official copy. Hope Shout Factory can resume Sentai DVDs. I heard Kamen Rider is coming next year. Fingers crossed for the Shows era!

I, too, think it was a shame they didn't switch to Dairanger in Mighty Morphin Season 2. They could have engineered an arc while they were using up Zyu2 where Zordon prepares the rangers to recieve the Power of Thunder... like the zords.

I kind of wish they would have used the senti suits in mighty morphing as well ( they look pretty) my best guess is to why they weren’t used is because it might have been too much for the morphing grid , I’m now trying to picture the horses in lost galaxy ( no idea how that would even work) I enjoyed your wild force history story Bruno ( also I’m a little sorry about the bootleg toys you found from wild force . That white ranger sword doesn’t actually look like a bootleg. The logo is for Yuuta (if I remember correctly?) a lower price point toy company which makes stuff for the younger kids. It’s a subsidiary of Bandai Japan, so it’s not bootleg.

5:17 Also technically that small Saba isn't a bootleg. It was by a branch of Bandai named "Yutaka" that primarily focused on cheap "rack toys". From what I've heard down the grapevine alot of these Chinatowns would sell Yutaka toys from Dairanger to capitalize on MMPR.

That Saba is not bootleg. It is a licensed product by a company called Yutaka. Yutaka makes cheaper Super Sentai toys for kids that can't pay the more expensive Bandai prices. Plex, I think they got the license right around Gokaiger, has this license for the cheaper Super Sentai toys now.

If there ever comes a time where it looks like Shout might be releasing more pre-Zyu Sentai seasons, do you think you could talk to the nice man at Shout about looking into putting some of the obscure English dubs of some of the Pre-Zyu Sentai series as bonuses? And I'm not talking about the Malaysian English Jetman and Flashman dubs by Speedy since all signs point to those being unofficial, but the ones that aired in the Philippines long ago that I'm pretty sure were official. I know it would be harder for the StarRangers (GoRanger) and Lucky Aces (JAKQ) dubs since they're probably lost at this point (aside from a handful of StarRangers episodes), but it would be neat to at least have the Bioman dub (which has been found in its entirety, including the movie) as an alternate audio track if they ever get to put the show on disc. Thank you guys for being such awesome advocates for the community!

Ah, man, they've been for sale for almost 9 years (and I've been promoting and linking to them for that time). They've only recently started to disappear. Hopefully more will come out, but I don't have any info currently. I'm less involved with Shout! Factory now that I don't live in CA anymore. I always do my best to encourage people to buy the things they want when they're for sale, b/c eventually, everything goes away. Sometimes you get get it used/cheaper later, sometimes they skyrocket in cost, and sometimes you can't even find the thing if you had the $$$. Those VR Trooper & Beetleborg DVDs have dropped off the face of the earth entirely.

But it was the 1993 series. Copyright may very well have been 92. Mighty Morphin was 93, which used 1992's Zyuranger footage. Jetman was 1991...
