Would ye keep on to the calves next year we kept on all our this year and we sold them this week . We got up to 850 for blues They not much to make of Them tho more money in milk .Are ye very highly stocked when ye are housing the cows and calves so early how highly stocked are ye in yer milking platform

We’ve never kept calves before, usually gone as soon as bvd’s come back. This year is our 1st year with automatic calf feeder so decided to keep them to sell in autumn when we knew we’d have bills to pay with the partnership windup and company formation . Wouldn’t have done it if we didn’t have the automatic feeder. The 20 replacements we decide to keep will go back out after we weight and dose them this week.

Just a way to extend the rotation. To keep them outside longer. Have done it for a few years and works out well. 2.67 stocked on grazing platform

No on non problematic cows but cows who already have scc issues it will Gradually increase them. Our milk recording during the week has highlighted 4 such cows #millionaires
