Hi! Love your videos. I am a senior animal sciences student at the University of Missouri and am currently in a dairy production class. I have a question about feeding. Why don't you keep feed at the bunks at all times? I've read that the bunks should always have feed available to keep the cows eating at all times and producing the most possible. Is this an economic decision that you have found benefits your farm in particular or is there another reason? I love your channel and being able to compare the university's farm decisions to what you do. They milk almost exactly the same number of cows you do so it's really a great resource for me!

Dairy isn’t even necessary for the human diet yet so many people still drink it. Calcium and the other nutrients are much more bountiful in plant based foods. All this work could go towards sustainable plant based farming, which will be better for the environment and not depend on animals at all.
@spatrk66343 жыл бұрын
they are not more bountiful in other foods. animal products are extremely nutrient dense and easily digestable. plants arent sustainable nor easily digestable by humans
@tarotminoratitania389 Жыл бұрын
Plant based farming involves using artificial agents to concentrate the desired aspects a plant has to offer into the target product. Most of the time, the human digestive system does not recognize these agents and therefore is used as a byproduct rather than a primary energy source. It's better to stay as organic as possible.
