We recently found out my daughter has had a milk intolerance (mild) and are switching to dairy free. This has been such a challenge since she’s only one and a half and goes to daycare, so finding foods that they can feed her is always difficult! This made me feel like there are so many more store-bought options than I found previously. Thank you so much for this video! Off to the store I go!

Hi there! Thank you for these information. My daughter has some intolerance but it isn’t only dairy and I don’t know what else. How did you know which intolerance had your kids? Thank you
@TheModernJuggle3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching! I’m glad you found it helpful. The best way to narrow down the intolerances is to do an elimination diet. Start with just dairy, remove that from your diet for 2 or so weeks and see if there’s any improvement. If no, I’d suggest elimination soy as well as the dairy. If that doesn’t do the trick, I’d try egg or gluten next. It’s a long process but eliminating one thing at a time is the best route! Wishing you all the best! Brittany

My 2.5 year old son is highly allergic to eggs and dairy! This video was so encouraging and gives us hope he will outgrow his allergies too. Curious, did you do anything in particular to help your kids outgrow their allergies and also did they ever get tested? Wondering if the level matter or is telling if a child will outgrow an allergy
@TheModernJuggle Жыл бұрын
I'm so glad you found it helpful! We had my second child tested and his scratch test popped for egg (slightly) but nothing else! They therefore classified it as a GI intolerance and not an allergy. As for what we did.. we just waited it out! I downloaded the "milk ladder" and once they were a year old I started at the bottom with baked milk and tried to work my way up. But it took a while and was very obvious when they weren't ready (extra gassy, diarrhea, very fussy). My son was 2.5 before he was completely ok with straight dairy and closer to 3 for gluten. My daughter outgrew her diary intolerance by 16 months. Best of luck to you!!

I was a vegetarian for 3.5 years (April 2017-September 2020). I am trying to go diary free. I do consume meat again but I limit which meats I eat and I don’t eat meat often. I eat meat maybe 3 times or less a week. Some of my nondairy staples are; non dairy coffee creamer, vegan butter, vegan cheese, vegan yogurt, vegan salad dressings and unsweetened original soy or almond milk. I want to completely cut diary out means I also don’t want to eat anything that contains dairy in the ingredients list. I have a sensitivity to diary since I was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis back in October of 2014.

Thank you for sharing. I’m deathly allergic to all dairy products and I love watching cooking videos but it’s so frustrating when they’re loaded with dairy or are vegan…which I am not. I will let you know that if your daughter’s allergy is protein based, breads are normally fine even if they do have milk as they are baked at a high enough temp that the proteins change in the high heat and no longer affect those who are allergic. I’m looking forward to seeing more of your videos.

Thanks for the Dairy Free video. However did you know that Coffee Mate liquid is dairy free? It is better than using the nut based milks for coffee flavor.
@TheModernJuggle3 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much for watching! Coffee Mate (which I LOVE!) claims to be “non-dairy” but it contains casein, which is a milk derivative. Many people who are dairy sensitive can tolerate it but since it was my infant in question I didn’t want to chance it! However now that she’s pushing a year old, we’ve started reintroducing dairy and it’s going well!

How did you come to realize that Riley had a milk/protein allergy? I’m starting to wonder if my 1 month old is dealing with it as well. 😞
@TheModernJuggle4 жыл бұрын
I was able to see the signs very early as I went through it with my second child but most often babies will have extreme fussiness, very hard tummies, very loose poops (often green, abnormally smelly and mucousy) and there may be visible blood in their diapers. Pediatricians can also run a guaiac test on a dirty diaper to see if blood is present - that’s how we diagnosed it with Riley. Soy proteins are very similar to milk protein so that could also be the culprit. Either way most babies outgrow these sensitivities within the first year or so. Good luck to you and your little one!

I want you to know that you can microwave any potato, You just need to put it under water, and stab it with a fork all over. That way it won’t cost so much for a potato wrapped in plastic. Unless that doesn’t work for you, somehow.
