I had one of these many years ago..a birthday present from my Mom. I learned how to shoot with that gun I even made a backstop/trap in metal shop in junior high school so I could shoot safely down in my basement shooting range. Spent many happy hours shooting down in my range and out in the fields I passed it on to my sister when I graduated to 'real' firearms when I became of age to shoot real firearms and hunt. It got lost over the years I have fond memories of it I now have several air guns but that Daisy Spittin' Image 1894 was my favorite air gun of all time.

I bought one of these in 1965. Had plastic stock, but everything else was metal. It was a great shooter. I bought a new one Daisy made for Winchester back in the 90's. It is wood stock, with plastic cocking lever. heavy trigger pull too.

@GarethJ808 жыл бұрын
+iCanHazTwentyLetters Sorry for the massive delay with my response - this video has a lot of comments now and I must have overlooked yours - No the front sight was fixed, but you could interchange the small metal disks that would give you a slightly different field of vision when looking down the barrel. Hope this helps

I got one of these from someone. It was sitting in the persons garage in a corner full of cob webs and stuff and they let me have it for free and I fired it and it fires as if it I guess would be brand new considering it's what looks to be old age and storage conditions. Daisy, crossman, and Benjamin are some of the best bb and pellet guns out there.

Beautiful job Gareth! I had these two airguns when I was a kid. I'm now 56 y.o. so this brought back alot of memories. Thanks! I remember they used to sell the Daisy Spitting Image model 1894 in gold plated version also. Both were pretty powerful.
@GarethJ8011 жыл бұрын
This was the only model I could find that was FULL metal/wood. The only plastic parts are the front clip around the front wooden grip and a small spring loaded plastic part that pushes the BB's up the loading barrel. If only they still made stuff like this these days... stuff that lasts and not designed to break 10 minutes after the warrantee runs out. Thanks for the post.

I never found a Daisy 1894 with wood stocks? Only the one they made for Winchester with a beveled butt stock end like yours. Found one NOS. I reshaped an old Remington butt plate to install on it. Cool rifles! I wish Daisy would make a new one like the Umarex Cartridge/Pellet shooters. But .25cal and more power!

I don't know if you still can but about 20 years ago I sent mine to Daisy to get it fixed and they fixed it up and sent it back good as new. They even replaced the plastic stock with a new plastic one because mine had gotten busted up in places. It only cost about 25.00 which ain't bad considering some people are asking anywhere from 200.00 to 400.00 for these now. Which is pretty crazy.

I have three different Daisy 1894 30-30's. They all need a seal kit. Assembly kits are usually preferable to these vintage air rifles, regardless of manufacturer. I have the Daisy/Sears Golden Boy, Buffalo Bill commemorative, and the 1894 Spittin' Image base model built Sept/75. What bothers me about their design is the spring-loaded lever on the magazine tube from the Henry!? That was one of the things Winchester sought to eliminate with his first design, the 1866 Yellow boy. I love that purty lil rifle! Octagon barrel sleeve and gold parts simulating the hard brass parts. And the way it sounds when you cock it. The rear buckhorn sights like the old Winchester. Now if Daisy would've spent as much time on it's power as it's looks...

Amazing work Garth! I still have mine (Daisy "Buffalo Bill Scout") that I got in 1971, but the stock and grips are plastic. Mine needs to be fixed but I don't have a clue how to take it apart like you did. Do you have any videos of a step-by-step on dismantling and re-assembling this BB gun? No way... they were making plastic ones in 71? I thought they were all wood from back then. Sorry mate, I couldn't even begin to tell you where I started with that restoration, it was a while ago and I have since sold the rifle. Sorry. 02.11.2015 - I am currently selling my Daisy Mod 499 single shot underlever rifle (as shown at the end of the video clip). I'm looking for £100 ONO and must be able to pick up from Weymouth, Dorset UK. Its for sale on Gunstar at the moment and has more info and pictures. I have a "plastic stock" 1894B-B. And it misfires more than fires. Sometimes it'll work 3 shots in a row and then it's like a brickwall trying to get it to fire again. I see the instructs on the side. I try that but often to no avail. Could anyone know why? Is something jammed? It seems to have a powerful punch when even misfiring. Would someone know the correct sequence and possible issues. Also, I can make a phone call but might ask here. Are BB guns generally outlawed or do they need to be registered? Thanks so much in advance. DE is my state. And what is the spring loaded thing on the barrel attached to where you might put a thumb and slide it toward the end of the barrel? Thanks! ":-{D
