3:00 - reason this guy is a fucking FANTASTIC coach and the reason he gets the best from his guys. "Listen, if you lose, nothing happens. Nothing Changes. It's OK. Now win, you're the man. ...... You enjoy doing this, you do it for fun." One of the biggest stresses for athletes is the fear of letting down their coach, their team, then themselves. When your coach tells you just to have fun and not worry about losing because it is not a big deal it removes a major stressor and allows the athlete to fully draw on their energy without wasting it to stress. I respect the hell out of this move

Thanks for posting this video. Anyone who is new or thinking about starting bjj should watch this video. It's not always about the score - it's about having the heart of a champion and fighting through physical and emotional pain to achieve a goal that few try, and even fewer attain. Awesome video; I hope there are more treasures like this in the PS/DF basement archives.

Yo Heath, you ARE adding something good to the world. 😎 These videos came on my KZbin autoplay. And I watched the first bit of the first episode. And these guys initially reminded me of a bunch of drunken teens that proverbially annoy everyone in the neighbourhood. You know, the ones where everyone else’s response to them as they party loud and crazy at any hour on any day is, “ oh yeah, well I’ll fuckin’ see YOU next decade when I order my burgers at the fast food drive through, because that’s where you’ll be still working.” And maybe these COULD be those kids. But it didn’t take long into watching to realize, “hey now, wait. These don’t seem to be those kids after all”. And actually at that point I was mortified, because NOW I was convinced that these ARE those same kids, only difference being that THESE kids both perpetually annoy the neighbourhood AND have both the capability and perhaps even the inclination to FUCKING DESTROY, anyone who complains about it. And in my imagination nothing can save the neighbourhood from such a thing as this save the swat team - who, by the way - DONT USUALLY DEAL WITH NOISE COMPLAINTS! But upon watching EVEN further, I came to notice that even THIS evaluation is wrong. Actually these are a zealous bunch. And Reza Aslan describes a ‘zealot’ (in his book entitled ‘zealot’) as one in whose heart burns an all consuming fire- for God, in the case of the latter, yet for a DREAM in the case of these kids. Their dedication and undying support, loyalty, and love for one another - as well as for family - and maybe there isn’t much of a distinction between the two as far as they are concerned, paints a picture of something pretty amazing, in my opinion. They are getting far more out of life than the drunkards next door. And I guarantee in many years from now, when all these kids are rich and famous, they will look back on this time as some of the best in life. You don’t need money to be joyful. You just need to honour what gifts you have and you need good people, and maybe you even need someone who knows better to give a shit about you when your young and know nothing. I see Heath Pedigo in a roll such as this. I got inspired to comment when at the videos end he was going, “…I feel like I’m giving them a better life…” or whatever, and I was just like, “dude, you ARE- you ARE!”

Andrew stated he felt like he had asthma and couldn't catch his breath. Having asthma and rolling is a struggle. One day I'm on top of the world because I can breathe well and I'm passing and crushing. The next day I feel like I'm dying and want to throw up because it upsets my stomach. Your opponent doesn't slow down to match your pace. Props to him for winning despite not being 100%.

Shortly after this competition around mid january many people in my gym had a fucked up dry cough, constant fatigue and some had bronchitis like symptoms where the doctors where stumped on what it was. I caught it too. My symptoms where mild fever, hacking dry cough and constant fatigue and thats it. I swear we all had the first wave of covid in the bjj world for the simple fact of what we do and how much travel was going on at the time. And we all quickly built up antibodies. When I got the j&j vaccine everyone I knew that got it had fevers and felt like shit for a few days. I didnt feel a thing. But again maybe it was a cold or a flu
