A great example of the first American BB Pistol produced by Daisy in 1937.

Interesting pistol Alan. Perhaps someone replaced the spring with a stronger one to make the ball go further. When I was a kid I hankered after a Webley air pistol. But my pocket money didn't stretch that far. I bet it wouldn't even now. Cheers Nobby

Hi Nobby. That's what I think has probably happened to it. The old Webley air pistols can fetch high prices these days, it depends on the condition. Cheers, Alan.

I've just got today, the later 177 version. The spring in this one is actually quite strong but definately 'indoor' power!

I've never attempted to take it apart so I can't be of any help.

I’m sorry but you don’t know the reason why or how the Daisy propels the shot.

I know exactly how it works. Once the the sear is released the spring accelerates the piston down the compression chamber. The compressed air is forced into a small hole in the rear of the air tube. The high pressure air is forced down the air tube where it hits the BB and forces it down the shot tube. Most Daisy BB guns work this way.
