no idea really, i've observed this behaviour many times on the internet so it's safe to say it's not abnormal. My guess, when a bandwagon of hate is created it is like a free pass for people to vent their frustrations, which most of the time is just plain jealousy. So yeah, they can hate with impunity, which they obviously do anyway, but if enough people do it they feel included that they are doing aswell and it just increases the volume of hate for a specific thing/person.
