Thanks for the video. I watched it to see how you got the fold over open part at the top to look so neat where the tie goes in. To save threading the bias tie through you can lay it on before you fold it over and stitch with the tie in place. I have made hundreds of these for care staff from simply folding a pillowcase in half and stitching like you did then turning inside out. The bags were small to medium and automatically lined. It is great to see everyone coming together to help our carers and NHS staff.

Really like the slit at the side, looks tidier than a hole left in the top edge when sewn right round. Measurements very helpful. If someone doesn't have pinking shears, you could either do zigzag or a french seam instead. Great demo, very clear thank you.

Hi, thank you for not calling these "scrub bags for the NHS" whilst the main focus has primarily been on keeping our hospital staff safe, I would like to say that no hospital staff should be taking scrubs home to be washed, they should be left at the trust they work in to be laundered through that trust. These will however, be much appreciated by those who need to wash uniforms at home. I made two simple drawstring bags for a work colleague 3 weeks ago, as he was deployed onto the wards - not his normal role. I made them with french seams and two handles to pull shut.

Thank you! After watching this I have halved the time it's taking me to make each bag 😊 My only comment is that I'm also sewing across the botyom corners on the wrong side so it makes a flat bottom when the bag is right side out.

Thank you so much for this video. I am a beginner when it comes to sewing but I have already made two of these and hope to make lots more.

Daisynics, I love this tutorial. Please could you also provide a paper version with photos that I could print off and have next to me when I sew, please? Thank you so much. I'm making these for the NHS.

Hi. I followed your tutorial and the bag turned out great. Is it possible to put cord/cords through that would enable the bag to be pulled closed from both sides? If so, how would I thread the cord/cords through please?
@ericabates53614 жыл бұрын
Hello there are lots of sewing tutorials on drawstring bags with a cord, ribbon or binding 😁 if you watch one of those it will show you how to thread it. 💜 The easier way to explain it, it's like a "U" shape on both sides. I hope this will help you. 😁 Erica x

I too am making laundry bags but am a new sewer, I really wanted to help the NHS, so thank you for an awesome tutorial. May I ask what size your cutting mat is?
@DaisynicsRecipesDIYCrafts4 жыл бұрын
Hi there I have over the years bought 4 cutting mats and they are all different sizes my large pink mat I bought from amazon and my small mates I bought from hobby crafts, picking a mat and it’s size depends on your project and space u have I have a small amount for my quilting when I’m cutting small squares and card making and I have the extra large mat for when I making larger items like handbags and shopping bags and things but you do need quite a bit of space for the larger cutting mat like a kitchen table 🌼

Carol Smith hi there I use 💯 cotton it was just what I had an old roll of curtain material if u use a thinner material zig zag stitch around or double stitch the seams to make sure it is nice and strong, happy sewing 🧵🌼

Excellent tutorial but be careful of ribbon as it may not survive a 60 degree wash. Also, please do not iron on your cutting board - it will damage and warp it!
@DaisynicsRecipesDIYCrafts4 жыл бұрын
Hi there the iron was just to demonstrate and not plugged in always use an ironing board to iron on I was using my ironing board for pressing but my ironing board is in an other room and to demonstrate on camera I had to unplug the iron to get it in shot 🌼

Where do we get any material?
@ornelladay20414 жыл бұрын
Seriously? Try the well known auction site, or cut up a clean duvet cover or sheet you no longer use. Old children's bright ones will make anyone's day cheerier 😁
