Here's a summary: Morihei Ueshiba, a kyoju dairi holder of Daito-ryu from Sokaku Takeda, taught a safer and modified form of the art to some of the staff of the Asahi shinbun back then ("Asahi-ryu"). Sokaku Takeda hears this, goes to Asahi and takes over Ueshiba's role as teacher. Ueshiba leaves. Eventually Takuma Hisa receives the full transmission of Daito-ryu knowledge and certified with a Menkyo Kaiden. Only 2 people are known to have received a Menkyo Kaiden from Sokaku, one of them is Takuma Hisa. When the Asahi students encountered Sokaku's techniques it inspired awe & administration.

Can any one explain to me the diferences between AIKIDO and Daito-ryu Aikijujutsu? THanks!
@fadhlanarmon36709 жыл бұрын
aikijujutsu is supposed to mean soft-hard, aikido was based on the soft part.

+Anonymous Panacea No man, Daito Ryu has nothing to do with Brazilian Jiu-jitsu. BJJ comes from Kano Jiujitsu, KodoKan Judo, witch comes from Takenouchi Ryu Jujutsu, Kito Ryu Jujutsu and Tenshin-Shinyo Ryu Jujutsu. There where a lot of Jujutsu Ryu's in Japan and Daito Ryu was only one of them.

Aikido you dont get striked or kicked before during or after a technique

The last true grand master of Daito-Ryu was Sokaku Takeda his number one student for many years was Morihei Ueshiba. Ueshiba went on to create Aikido out of some moves he learned under Takeda. However the reason for the split was due to personalities and a philosophical difference on how to deal with aggression i.e. opponents. Ueshiba bastardized Daito Ryu techniques he learned and made the moves more opponent friendly....and this is how a combat art became a self defense art. Side note Ueshiba changed his mindset and teaching techniques over his life time starting with almost pure Daito and ending up as an esoteric highly ritualized but not effective techniques. So when you look at Aikido you have to trace the linage back to find out when they studied under Ueshiba because there are very different versions of that art some very good some not so much.

Was kotaro yoshida a part of this lineage? He may have been from hokkaido as well. It is told that his son moved to the US and taught Don Angier in the Utica NY area.

Aikido techniques are from daito ryu the same throws but the here is the difference Aikido has six pinning technique ikkyo, nikyo,sankyo,gokyo,rokkyo daito ryu dose not master Morihei Ueshiba created that
@mikeaddison-saipe58208 жыл бұрын
I must disagree.If you follow the documentary Ikkyo is required for shodan, Nikkyo for Nidan etc. Multiple variations for each technique. The real difference between Daito Ryu and Aikido is that Ueshiba had seen enough of violence and wanted to create a self defence method that was effective while being non-combative and which protected life. Daito Ryu is a Gendai Jujutsu school which is violent in it's application - requiring Atemi (impact) upon entering into contact and prior to and following throws.Much more likely to damage during the application of technique.
@jjs38906 жыл бұрын
Morihei Ueshiba Catalogued the techniques and made them safer but the still existed in Diato Ryu.
@gratefulape124 жыл бұрын
I think differences depend on the school. The Daito Ryu that came from Kodo Horikawa is significantly subtler than most aikido.
