Damon deserved to defend the title in the Williams. The seasons in the Arrows & Jordan tarnished his reputation somewhat. A nice bloke, met him in Melbourne 2015.

I like to think that he delivered his best in the machinery given to him. I would have loved to see him win in Hungary (you know the race). Yes I was a Schumi fan, but always respected Damon and I was so glad to see him become the F1 Champion that he deserved.

Yes I think Damon Hill deserved to defend his title against Jacques in 97 in the Williams then as well but Frank Williams did not think that.

Damon had been "fired" long before he even won the title, so that was never a question. Basically after he bottle jobbed the 1995 (when he had the best car) the team decided enough was enough but because there wasn't anyone available for 1996, they kept him on for one last chance. If Williams had their way, he'd have never gotten a drive to begin with (they were going to give the seat to Hakkinen or Mansell) so it's not like they were going to give out a sympathy drive to someone who cost a lot, and was prone to break under pressure.

@@awsomestleaperd78 Would you like to check the 1994 season results & tell me who came second in the World Drivers Championship in 1994 I beleive you will find it was Damon Hill & why was that because the Williams FW16 became more managable as the year & season went on so if Senna had not crashed at Imola & died there is a good chance that he may have won the race & later on in the season Schumacher had 2 DSQs 2 Retirements & 2 races he did not race & he won with a total 92 points to Hills 91 so if Senna raced all those races that Schumacher did not then it would have been a Williams 1,2 in the World Drivers Championship & as Senna was a better driver to Hill at the time as Hill had only been in the sport for 2 years & Senna was 3 time world champion then with all probability Senna would have been world champion in 94. Also another thing even though Senna was struggling at first he managed to qualify the Williams FW16 to pole in all of the first 3 races of that years season that was how good he was.

@@dangerousbrian0 Damon hill never finished as horribly as Senna in those first 2 races, either. Your analogy is false. The FW16 was a good car, But it was something Senna couldn't find pace out of. Improvements can happen, But damon was already getting high positions, not later on.
