Simple, well built and easy to maintain - those are the types of reels I used as a kid in the 60's and 70's. I had no money as a kid so when I serviced the reels every year in South Florida - I used vaseline rather than reel grease. Did OK but the real stull is much better than vaseline. Tad

Same here. When I was younger I had little to no money of my own for high end gear. Especially for freshwater fishing. Lucky for me I did not need much to enjoy the sport. - Tony

Hi Tony! I have the largest version of this series of reels for saltwater use. They are great reels that will last forever if you take care of them. I think I have 66 vintage Daiwa reels in my collection of 320 total reels. Recently I got a Daiwa Million DX 7000 that was very nice. I had not seen that reel before. I’ve also started collecting the GS series of Daiwa reels. I have 6 so far. This was a thorough video! - Chris

@@backonthebenchreelsTony, I also have a 7250 HRLA that I’m quite fond of. These earlier Daiwas are a good as a fishing reel can be SS far as I’m concerned. They just last and last. - Chris PS. I now have over 70 vintage Daiwa reels in my collection of 337 spinning reels.
