Are most area trout rods "self-hooking"? I noticed on a lot of the area trout videos that people don't seem to set the hook, the rod just kind of doubles over and the fisherman just keeps steady retrieving.

Thanks for watching. No they are not. The Diplomat Extreme is unique out of the area trout rods I own. Now I do not set the hook with any of the rods I own but the Diplomat takes it to a another level. In that rod it is all about the tip.

hi randy, i was wondering does this rod have more of a fun factor than your abu garcia real finesse, just in terms of small fish like 4 inches, because i have the abu (thanks to your review) but if the iprimi is more fun with the micros ill have to pick one up

Thanks for watching. It gives you more fun on the smaller fish no doubt. To me it will be great for fishing micro spoons...plugs. With those lures you get that big reaction strike so sensitivity is not a big issue. I have not tried fishing plastics with it yet. The Abu Garcia STS is still my favorite rod.

That's hard to answer. Every rod I own casts great. A lot of factors in casting distance.......line diameter...type of line.
