Daiwa Tatula 100 - Drag Slippage??

All my tatulas have done this with braid. It's not the drag, it's the line slipping on the spool, happens with a little temperature change. Long cast and spool the reel, or get your line wet, and they're good to go.

You probably just didn't spool your braid correctly. If u spool braid like normal line, the braid is just going to spin on the spool when under load. You need to either tie the braid to an anchor point on the spool (if it has one), wrap some electrical tape tape around the spool, or use a bit of mono as backing so that the braid has something to bite into.

When you took the line off you should have checked if you could rotate that spool with your thumb as easily as you were pulling the line off with the drag locked down. That would have told you right there if it was the drag malfunctioning. You had a full spool so people can't really see clearly if the spool is turning while you're pulling off the line or if the line is just slipping on the spool. I have a few tatulas sv, I always fishing in the winter temps here in TN and haven't experienced the spool shrinking or drag malfunctioning but I do use backing on braid setups to save braid and avoid line slip.

I like it overall. Wish it had stronger brakes but ive been please with it. Its comfortable in the hand

You don't need backing. Wrap the line on the spool several times should do it. A power drill n water bottle best diy to remove the fishing line
