Rodrigo, I am . . . so. proud. of. YOU! You went from knowing absolutely nothing about construction to this! Truly amazing. I am not only in awe of how quickly you are able to teach yourself all these new skills, but also of your ingenuity (making do with whatever you've got and making it WORK)! Just like Freddie, you too are a keeper. And not just because you have fantastic building skills; your love for others shines so brightly. Give Roger a cuddle and a kiss for me. I adore him (and Freddie!), too. May The Lord continue to bless everyone and everything on Lola's Farm. P.S. Next time, don't block the exhaust on the vacuum because it will cause it to overheat and stop working.

I am an expert at tape and float, over 25 years experience. Mesh tape is for flat seams and paper tape is for corners only, otherwise your corner seams will crack. There is a special v-shaped trowel for the corners as well. Put the plaster, lay on the tape, flatten with trowel, dry, repeat with plaster over the tape. You can use a stucco 12 in. x 5 in. wet float to do dustless final sanding perfecting, just rinse frequently and don't let it dribble all over the wall without immediately drying off as you go with an old towel, rinse trowel frequently in water, smack over flat towels to remove excess so you don't screw up your trowel shape and move slowly and deliberatly so sponge does not remove itself from wet float base.✌😁

Make sure to investigate the material you are using in the 3d printer. Things like water pipes, gas pipes, food grade (meaning particles won’t leach into your food/water) really matter. Your printer supplies may already have that but you should ask the company and look at the ingredients - Nana safety concern😂
@bfvader
@bfvader 5 ай бұрын
The PLA (Poly Lactic Acid) plastic used in the 3D print is non-toxic on its own, the main issue is that bacteria can accumulate on the microscopic layer lines which are very hard to clean, so it is not recommended for use with food/water unless they're varnished with a non-toxic coating that can fill the gaps. It should be okay to use as a drain pipe. That said, PLA is somewhat hydrophilic and will get brittle and crack over time as it absorbs water. Your printer can use ABS or PETG filament for a stronger print more appropriate for that type of application.

I am so impressed with your creativity! And I LOVE the fact that you created that corner tool to help you with the mudding and taping. And the pipe! Maybe you can thread the drainage hose further down the 3d Printed one to help it last longer? So it’s closer to the PVC piping? Don’t even know if that would work, but it was a thought. Anyhow, your home is looking fabulous! Hi Freddie! Give Roger a hug for me. 😊

Rodrigo, the trick with paper tape, and mudding in general. First layer, start with as small as possible wide very flexible putty knife. Then after a very light sanding, next coat with a wider (4” to 6”) knife. Light sand, and then graduate to the widest knife with a very light sanding. Voila! Less sanding dust!

Won't the mesh start to lift over time ?
@critterkarma
@critterkarma 5 ай бұрын
@@tanya334 it shouldn’t, with this technique, one is adding wider and wider thin layers of drywall compound. So, in the end it ends up with the same thickness, but with less sanding build up. I was taught this method by a contractor when I was doing my own DYI renovation.

@tanya334 5 ай бұрын

@eldongriffiths2770
@eldongriffiths2770 5 ай бұрын
The trick is to become proficient enough that the only sanding needed is after the last coat has dried, and as little ot that as possible. Also use broad strokes when applying and working mud. Don't continually play with it. Drywall dust will kill a vacuum quicker than anything else that I am aware of. I use a water filter between the sanding head and the vacuum. It is very effective. With care there is hardly any dust left in the room. Maybe 3-5% of what would otherwise be left. Also, without a HEPA filter on the vacuum you are probably putting more dust into the room air than you want to know. Without a mask that air is being directly filtered by your body. Enough said?

I know you mentioned in a recent video that you were going to be adding solar panels to your roof. Have you ever thought of adding a deck on the back and putting solar panels on either side? This would make them more accessible for Cleaning when needed and wouldn’t have to punch holes in your roof, causing potential leaks. This would also give you a place to work underneath or even store some of your materials out of the rain

Laundry room looks great! I still think a rolling island would be nice. You could build counter height storage to put some of the items you have on your countertop underneath and still be able to move it around. If you make one side hangover a little bit, you can turn it into extra seating by adding a couple of stools. Turning your refrigerator towards the kitchen would probably make more sense and then you have room for more storagein the dining room area

Remember it’s easier to put more mud on than it is to sand it off! Stop using sand paper and use a damp course sponge- it eliminates dust.
