Okay, so, this one and 11X4 "Baby" are my absolute favorite episodes of the entire show! ("Baby" is my feel-good episode, and this one is for when I want all that pain and angst, but like, the good kind of angst, that's not from a problem between the brothers but comes from external means.) I mean, how much of a badass is Sam?! Guy gets gut-shot. White-knuckles it through field-surgery. Is in intense pain but stumbles along the path anyway to the ranger station with the group. Gets asphyxiated. (While getting asphyxiated he noticed the bite-mark on the arm of the dude doing it!) Almost-dies. Comes to later all alone. Stumbles and then falls down stairs. STILL takes out not just one but two werewolves! Drives their truck to Baby. Calls Dean to warn him but looses signal. (I mean, his mojo's a bit low, not surprised that his normal personal wifi signal wasn't at full strength. *LOL*) Drives Baby to the clinic. Proceeds to shoot the newly turned werewolf who's just about to kill his brother. I mean, Sam F-ing Winchester indeed! And Dean... Oh Dean. The heartbreak on his face when he came back in and found Sam "dead". I felt that. I feel that every time I watch this episode! And then the "Let them come." You know he didn't give a shit anymore and just wanted to die too. Screw everything else. Except, he knew Sam would want him to get the civilians to safety. And then he went full on Romeo and took poison while not realizing that Sam wasn't actually dead! And yeah, he tried to logic his way into getting Sam back, but Billy could see right through him. (I don't think Billy had any intentions of tricking Dean into going with her though. Because she outright told him that Sam wasn't dead. She does seem to be stickler for the rules. She probably could have just taken him then and there if she'd really wanted to force the issue, but human medical intervention is apparently considered to be an acceptable form of getting out of dying.) I just... I love everything about this episode. (Well, for all the hurt we got I do wish we'd had a little more comfort to go with it, but I get the time constraints and all. But hey, there is LOTS of fanfiction out there that follows up on that. *LOL* This was a very popular episode to write codas for.) Oh! One more little behind-the-scenes tidbit. That part when Dean was out gathering wood to make a litter and he lost it a bit and started hitting the tree with a branch or something? That was completely improved by Jensen. Apparently he got hung-up a bit on a stray branch and he was so in-character and in Dean's mindset that he just went with it and it was like, perfect! It really showed all the frustration and helplessness Dean was feeling with the whole situation. Man, Jensen's such a good actor. Jared too! They were both phenomenal in this one! I'm also looking forward for the rest of your reactions for this season. :) But I was DEFINITELY happy with this one! And trust me, I was feeling about the same way first time I watched it through.

It's up to a person to keep fighting to stay alive or give up and die. It's also a chance that if they keep fighting and die they'll be a ghost. So Billie was trying to convince Dean to give up instead of fighting to stay alive

Dean's "Sammy?" when he kneeled beside Sam (after he comes back in the cabin and Sam is on the floor not moving and Dean goes over and is trying to rouse him) was so sad. The way Jensen said his name and the expression on his face in that moment was fantastic. You're heart just breaks for Dean. I believe Jensen said at a con that the scene at the first cabin when Dean was tending to Sam's bullet wound was a challenge to film. Because he had all these different props to manage at the same time as having emotional expressions and lines. So kudos to him for making it look seamless.

This episode was aired here in Hungary yesterday on Jensen’s birthday! On my birthday last year the two death Billy ( Lisa ) and Julian had a live virtual panel! How spooky is that! This episode is so intense just couldn’t watch your reaction video Dakara yesterday. Needed another day- so now will watch your next reaction video as episode 18 was on today. Btw i cried my heart out too watching this episode!

I just finished the final season of SPN. Being very proud of how I never broke on movie/tv show. (Maybe shed a tear here or there) but on 3 DIFFERENT OCCASIONS the final season broke me. Good luck dakara. Ull need it

The whole episode was about Dean " watching" his brother die, literally killing himself to bring him back. Sam and Dean are cannon soulmates. Yes it was stupid for Dean to call on billie but in his mind if she didn't deal and give Sam back then Dean would rather be dead with Sam than alive without him. whatever is between those boys, brothers, parent/child (dean did raise sam), platonic soulmates or whatever there is no question that Sam is the person Dean loves most and it has been shown over and over he does not want to go on without Sam. even when Sam was in the cage Dean was just fulfilling his promise to his baby brother by being with Lisa and living on. it amazes me that anyone can watch this ep or the last 11 seasons and not see that SAM (not Cas) is Deans whole reason for everything which is why Michelle's words at the end are about Sam and no normal after losing him. also this sets up for later in the season with the question of sacrifice and letting each other go.

Dean did saw the man he loves "die", lucifer possessed him 😭, I can't believe how smart you are that you picked up on that 😍, you're so great, also how badass of sam, he literally did everything this episode by himself, dean was desperate and he's suicidal at that moment, dean draws his sense of self worth from how he's protecting the people he loves and he just lost cas and thought he lost sam as well, he had no one to live for. Dean can never live alone, he needs the people he loves.

No more deals for our boys ha?.. Omg Dakara seeing you cry hurts lol this episode is a rollercoaster. Sam is indeed a beast!! He's a fantastic hunter Dean is starting to feel hopeless and it hurts like hell. That's what happens when he loses Cas.. he was a little bit hopeful to get him back but he is now responding different to Sam when he tries to reassure him that they will save him :( Which btw I love supportive Sam, he keeps trying give Dean a distraction with cases. Now big time for touching on the topic of the brothers codependency, what this episode is really about... UHHH Billie is basically calling them out on the sacrifices and deals to resurrect each other, on the fact that Dean is toxically codependent on Sam, that this is just not gonna work anymore, like all the season we have seen how they need to change things from the past, things they have always done the same way, that they need to change. They can't go Swan Song anymore, things are changing! And Billie herself a reaper saying all of that.. In a way they are telling us that this story can't be no more, killing them makes no sense anymore, the sacrifices are not sustainable, they won't work anymore, it's wrong and painful and bad. Billie is also calling them out on the reasons they tell themselves to go and make those deals, she says they do it in the name of the greater good and made terrible mistakes because of that. Although here the one who does things for himself is Corbin, who wants to turn Michelle for egotistic reasons. Dean did it bc he wants to save Sam so he can fight Amara and after Sam "dies" he goes and try and help Michele and Corbin. BUT Dean is finally learning about that toxicity, I love how Death/reapers episodes are about lessons. Dean learns here that dying is not an answer, going to the darkness and nothingness is not an answer. Trading his soul is wrong and he needs to value himself. He can't lose himself for Sam, they need to have a healthier relationship, yes he loves him to death and of course worries about him but there's a difference between that and having this burdened responsability and finding worth ONLY on protecting Sam because that comes from the time John put that burden on Dean. So Dean starting to see his real value is huge for him, not wanting to throw himself into a sacrifice everytime something bad happens, huge. He needs to be a team with his brother and not a one sided caretaker and protector. He needs to let Sam be his own person because we saw here how capable Sam is. He survived all BY HIMSELF. He can do that. Dean thinking he died and then telling him he is alive. THAT is the lesson right there. It was kind of an accident because he left Sam and trusted him and Sam thought Dean did something but he didn't and so it was like a moment of oh.. he actually survived without my help! That happened! lol it's great he is moving away from that parental role and more towards brother role!!! Obviously things are not magically fixed it's a process but this is a start. So yea Dean killing himself here was absolutely pointless and did nothing and that's the thing, he doesn't have to do that to save the world, just like Cas, they need to value themselves for who they are and not for what they can do. And I think he realized that the moment he saw that his sacrifice was meaningless. Like please Dean you need to put value in your life!! you are worth so much Then at the end with Michele, we know that Sam is okay. I don't think Dean is worrying about him there.. the only person left is Cas, Cas is the one in trouble, so he could be thinking about him as you said, even Sam said it at the beggining, Dean's mission right now is getting Cas back, he's been getting desperate because of that. At the same time he can also be thinking about himself and how the people who loves him would feel if he dies. And hey another forshadowing with the wife surviving and the husband dying, forshadow for what happens at the end of the season. Corbin is absolutely horribleee, more toxic forced love, he just cared about himself. He lied and manipulated, and became a monster. Another example of what not do in a relationship. So yay go Sammy and kill that monster. And Michele is left with the trauma and yes there's no normal after that but she can keep moving forward and in time heal. Her story is really really tragic though :( She's left adrift, kinda like how Cas feels. I'm sorry there's people fighting in the comments :( And invalidating your views. I feel sad that this fandom can get so divisive I wish it wasn't like that, but there's this portion of the fandom that just can't accept people having their own interpretations of the show, as if analysing a piece of media wasn't a thing that just ..happens all the time and we can all come up with our interpretations, that's what's fun about it, we just want to read the show the way we see it and I wish we could all respect that, and the reading is literally THERE we are not inventing anything out of nowhere.

In the end Dean is not talking about Cas, very clearly because there is no normal for him after Sam dies. Because his whole life revolves around his kid brother he raised.. The whole ep is purely about Sam and Dean...I really dont get how destiel shippers end up making THIS of all eps about Cas lmaaaao PS- this is not calling out Dakara, more like the stupid ass tumblr meta d/c shippers having made that scene about Cas. Like ship whatever as long as you are not purposely being obtuse to something written plainly. I love Dakara's reactions, she gets the show...which is why her that particular comment made me weird out

It's sorta like this. When the girl was talking about how "the man she loved died" she was talking about her romantic partner. Which is why us destiel shippers obviously think of Cas first because ya know it's just a little strange how Dean was thinking of Sam in the same context as she was talking about her husband. But it wasn't really making it about Cas our minds just automatically go to Cas when she was talking about it, and not Sam BECAUSE she was talking about her husband. Do you at all get what I'm saying?😂 (and btw yes I know that the scene was intended to point to Sam when she said that I'm just trying to explain why we think of Cas during this)

This is one of my least favourite episodes of the entire series. It's like the writers had never watched the show before but had read lots of fanfiction instead. Creepy, and weird af.

I saw this episode when it came out and it was equally obvious they werent going to permanently die then as it was when there was several seasons left. Reusing the same tired plotlines and killing and resurrecting the same character several times, is bad writing. When there are no stakes at all it's bad writing. If a character could be killed and come back in the same episode with no real consequences, it's bad writing. When a reaper tells them the next time they die will be the last and the next time they die is the least emotional time, and they come back in the same episode, its god awful horrendous writing

At no point in this episode do I get emotional just annoyed. Everyone knows by now the boys ain't dying, not one close call from here on is even a little impactful. It actually gets worse as Dabb takes over. Theres a reason most shows dont cheapen their story arch by resurrecting every fucking main character every time. It's so annoying. It's bad writing.

for me this episode in this amazing season is really extra!I mean they really could show another kind of story or even a fight with reapers(not just Billie)considering some are vengeful for the fact that Winchesters killed Death!but instead they just show us the thing we already saw and knew 100 times before this episode!just with different senario but same thing in end of the line!
