This is one of my favorite episodes of season 6. The Wild West setting was BRILLIANT since I always thought spn had a western vibe with hunters being modern day cowboys

I really enjoy this episode. Tbh I love the time travel episodes and just find it interesting seeing them in the Wild West. Plus, Dean getting constantly disappointed by the whole thing is hilarious!

Also, just another little easter egg that was in this episode... Remember the name of the saloon owner? Elkins? Did the name sound familiar at all? (If not, that's okay too. It was really only mentioned a couple of other times..) Back in Season 1, in the episode "Dead Man's Blood", The Colt, as it turned out, was in the possession of a man named Daniel Elkins. He was a Hunter and had apparently taught John Winchester a lot of the things he knew about the job. So, the writers actually connected a dot there, implying that Elkins the saloon owner wound up with The Colt after Dean's shoot-out and it stayed in the family until much, much later. (Daniel Elkins also came up in "In the Beginning" when Dean went to his place to get The Colt from him, in the hopes of shooting Azazel with it.) This is honestly one of my favorite episodes of this season. For one, I grew up watching Westerns with my folks. For another, I also grew up watching the "Back to the Future" movies, and just LOVED all the references this episode managed to pack in. (I also remember the first time I saw it, yelling at the screen that Dean had his regions mixed-up. *LOL* If he was going to someplace in say, New Mexico or Arizona, a serape might have worked. But not way up in Wyoming. I also found it funny that despite not really being into westerns, Sam wound up adapting to the setting better than Dean in a lot of ways.) Anyway, loved your reaction and definitely look forward to the next one! This season really gets intense as it nears its end.

Anyone else notice how the duality of this season is similar to Game of Thrones? There is the war in Heaven that everyone seems to ignore, except Castiel, because they are all concerned with the threats they are facing already. Same with Game of Thrones where everyone wants to ignore the main threat of with white walkers and only concerned with fighting a war over ruling a kingdom. I can't really elaborate more without spoiling it for anyone who hasn't seen Game of Thrones.

Wow yeah that's true. I've just seen the first 7 seasons, but how is the 8th and last season of GoT? Everyone i know keeps trashing on it and it's sad to see for a series of THAT caliber getting ruined. I really hope i like it, though the odds are low i have an open mind :) Currently watching the show with my cousin who's never seen it before, we just finished S6.

This, The French Mistake, My Heart Will Go On & The Man Who Would Be King were the best episodes of season 6 for me, with my top 2 being The Man Who Would Be King and this one. I loved all the attention to detail and continuity that the writers and Sera paid back then and the way we went full circle with the story of Samuel Colt's gun, his giant devil's trap and the town of Cold Oak, SD from All Hell Breaks Loose. This was where the payoff to the slow start of season 6 really came in and everything just came together seamlessly. I also love the references to Back to the Future Parts II & III with Samuel Colt sending them the ashes to the modern day and Dean using Clint Eastwood's name like Marty did. Not to mention that Marty was given a Colt in Back to the Future Part III, but the Colt has long existed in the series before this episode, so I guess I won't count that.

I love all their references to Back to the Future III. You're not the first reactor to comment on how far we get into the season before we as an audience really know what's going on. The writers really dragged this one out. All the reveals are in the coming episodes, which are very good in my opinion.

Colt vs Winchester. I’ve wondered since the Colt was introduced if the names for the show were chosen for any specific reason or if they just chose 2 of the most well-known names from firearm history. US history at least. Colt is probably a worldwide name at this point though. They’ve designed and created a bunch of weapons for our military and the militaries of our allies. The M1911, M16, Car15, and M4 platforms specifically. Winchester could have been known worldwide at some point in history but the company itself doesn’t even exist anymore.
