@@TheBlaithe well, you could adjust the type of reaction the fluid gives by automatically setting the type based on bpm of the music. Or if you want you can get song info from any database on the internet and get what type it is, sad, chill, hip hop etc. and set the type of reaction based on that.

This is definitely something I would buy! On the initial test phase it looked better if I'm honest, the blob was concentrated and it looked cleaner and more reactive. Maybe the ferrofluid container doesn't need to be so deep, I think it would look cooler if it was flatter and less lava lamp like.

I would suggest coloring the ferrofluid ( gold, blue) seems easy enough. Other colors are harder. I also suggest an LED or other color changing light source to give a hue to the liquid, that can be controlled. Especially if you connect that component to also react to the equalizer and arduino unit (so ferrofluid+liquid color lights reacting to the music ), it seems like a winning combination.

I had the same idea but your is much more refined than mine. The use of a solenoid electromagnet is genius. My plan was to physically wrap my own coils and place them under the glass vessel but the prospect of opening my electromagnetics text book turned me off. I didn't want to relive that trauma haha. Patent is no longer possible, unless it was already officially submitted to the Office. Patent claim is not valid, if invention is already made public. Which this is, obviously.
