I probably would have been on your side when I was 19 also but a lot of s*** is going to open your eyes in these next few years I assure you that. There are plenty of great alternatives to this problem but that means these companies have to pay a little bit more money and that's where the greed comes in. Nevertheless we need an alternative to our fuel situation because this oil thing isn't going to work forever... better yet another 50 years so we need to do what we can to preserve nature and life while we can. Technology has come so far! Just look at some of these electric cars they are putting down faster times in combustion engines.

David Davidson First of all, you need to learn how to spell, and stop with the fox 'news' talking points. The republicans appointed people to a committee that steamrolled all opposition to the pipeline, the big oil companies who grease all republican wallets, and then the republicans spoon feed you their own excrement and you devour it willingly. There is nothing communistic about reporting on facts and what is unfolding in front of a reporters own eyes. These dog handlers should be put in prison for using a deadly weapon against peaceful protestors. As for the 'they should buy the land' argument, you are obviously once again an ignorant fool, the corporations and republicans used the archaic 'imminent domain' law to just take away peoples lands, without as much as an argument. They are breaking tribal treaties that have existed for hundreds of years by just bypassing the tribal councils. Shame on you for not knowing anything about the situation, and then harassing people who actually know what is going on.

Change of❤️if it were your property or they sucked shit out of the ground near your property , if you care to find out more see Jay Winter Nightwolf and Louis Farakan interview but you won't do it, you probably have preconceived thoughts because you have been told what to think what to listen to and you are unable to think for yourself so shut up and talk what you know!

Wrong. In North Dakota you can use deadly force, with no duty to retreat, if you are in your dwelling, place of work, occupied motor home or travel trailer and are reasonably fearful of death or serious bodily injury to yourself or another. These fuck sticks are lucky they're not in a morgue. Those "peaceful protesters" were jumping the fence and breaking it down to trespass onto private property and were acting aggressively.
@jeremydawkins46678 жыл бұрын
They were not in danger. Self defense is only valid if you are fearful for you life. That was not the case here, idiot. Plus, pretty sure private entities are not allowed to use attack dogs as a weapon.
@deann78988 жыл бұрын
Jeremy Dawkins "Self defense is only valid if you are fearful for you life." Wrong. Varies by state and can include fearing seriously physical injury, protection of property, etc. Also who are you to say whether or not they were in danger? Energy Transfer Partners is being allowed as a for-profit company to trump federal trust responsibilities guaranteed in the 1851 and 1868 United States treaties with the L/D/Nakota tribes, which remain the supreme law of the land as guaranteed in the US constitution. The proposed 1,172 mile long pipeline slated to carry fracked oil from the Bakken oil fields in North Dakota to Patoka, Illinois is ignoring pending legal action taken by the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe and other Oceti Sakowin tribes of the Lakota/ Dakota/ Nakota Nation in an effort to lay as much pipe as possible while ignoring treaty law, the Clean Water Act, the National Environmental Policy Act, the National Historic Preservation Act, and the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act.

Idk why people think the protesters deserved to be pepper sprayed and attacked. Idk why you guys say that the protesters were trespassing. According to a CNN article published today, Sept. 5th, the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe filed a emergency report stating that the oil pipeline was destroying burial grounds and sacred places of worship of the tribe. The oil pipeline company are the ones that should have been charged with trespassing. I do understand why the pipeline is being made, but it should be made without trespassing the tribes land.

@ScottTrobaugh8 жыл бұрын
I've been looking for a comment with some logic. Everyone saying that the "pipeline" guys were bad and evil i see it from another standpoint. The guys on the bulldozers and even the security were hired by the "bad" guys to do a job they all have families and they are there to do a job to feed their families. I do not know much about the situation there either, but i can say that going after the workers is wrong. You have a problem with it go after the people making the decisions not the guys just doing their jobs.
@PewPewv1238 жыл бұрын
"They were just doing their jobs" good stuff
@ninabernel53838 жыл бұрын
They weren't going after the workers. They wanted to get in the way of the bulldozers, but not to attack the workers just to shut down the bulldozing. The physical confrontations you see are the pipelines hired goons, the security guys. And this "just doing your job" excuse is bullshit. When your job is to destroy these peoples' water supply -- maybe you should use your conscience and find another job. You really want to feed your family the suffering and misery of other people?
@Changtent8 жыл бұрын
"Just doing their jobs"???; They were hired to run bulldozers. They weren't hired to commit violence. A proper response from the workers when the protesters breached the fence, would be to stop the machines and back away. Wait for Legal Real Police to arrive. Bring on the law suits; apparently the private security company WAS hired with pre-meditated intent to commit violence, showing NO remorse for their action, and failing to provide aid to injured persons.

People are quick to judge the situation based on a video. Saying it's not the indigenous people's land and pipelines are safe to transport oil. ... over 100 different tribes (and continues to grow) are standing up against the big corporations who will destroy the earth. This doesn't just effect Native Americans but central America. We have learned from the past that pipelines will eventually break and it will be to late if it happened. #NoDapl

Andy Drumburg Why its not their land if you endorse their intervention then why cant i go onto the reservation and start cutting fish nets because they destroy our ecosystem?
@jakobitaliaferro2008 жыл бұрын
Originally the entire land within the continental United States as well as Alaska & Hawaii belongs to the Native Americans and for many years they've had to fight for this land unfortunately.
@schouvler258 жыл бұрын
Andy Drumburg So whats your point? So we should all renounce our land and leave? I dont get the point of noting that is unless you mean to say that land should be somehow given to the tribe. The problem with that is where does that end? So the local farmers who have had nothing to do with the natives that bought this land just lose it?!
@jakobitaliaferro2008 жыл бұрын
No I'm not advocating renouncing the land and leaving because it's far too late to do something like that and even the Native Americans most of whom anyways would make similar if not the same statement that I just made. But the point is that this pipeline will destroy the environment and rob the Sioux of any rights they have left. Since the colonization of this great and massive continent, we have pushed the original inhabitants to the curve for our own foolish and selfish interests. Again I know that we can't just up and leave and give this whole continent back to the Native Americans because there's no way that something like that would or could happen, but this pipeline poses a threat to the rights of the Sioux and other Native Americans as well.
@schouvler258 жыл бұрын
Andy Drumburg What threat does it pose? A possible contamination of the Missouri River? Theres been dozens of inspectors from the state and the army engineer crew who have approved the project with several safety measures in place. As for destroying the environment, were already sending oil by rail with is far more dangerous and impactful on the environment. I fail to see what rights of the tribes that are infringed upon with a pipeline NOT on tribal land with numerous oversights. If they can intervene on private us soil why cant i go onto tribal land and cut nets? This protest hinders on a double standard which could trigger a problematic precedent.

terbospeed Yes, I'm a fucking psychopath because I understand that conquest is a natural trend of humanity and isn't going to end anytime soon. I ask you again, should the Turks give back Anatolia? Should the descendants of Mongols living in Eastern Europe be forced to move further East? What the fuck do you want?

In a pre-meditated plan, Dakota Access supplied a private security team armed with pepper spray and guard dogs. Clearly they anticipated trouble, yet had NO plan to help injured people after the conflict. Where is the Law? Where is the help?

...and you know there was no plan how?
@Changtent8 жыл бұрын
The worker team left without helping any protesters as was evident in the video. In their anger, they were only concerned about their loss of money (job delays), and did not show concern for injured persons. No medical team, or ambulance was evident on site.

They have no responsibility to assist moronic protesters after they've dealt with them.

+Brian Garber hopefully someone poisons your water so someone can call you moronic for bitching about it.

How dare they bring animals to use against the protesters!
@monarchladysrd8 жыл бұрын
I suppose from the other side the argument would be that the dogs were brought to protect the workers from the protesters. Seems legitimate to me.

+Sarah Dalton good point. I just don't think animals should be used as weapons.

How dare the protestors bring horses to use as weapons. Animal abuse!!! Call PETA!

+badlandskid I know you're trying to make fun but I agree. I don't like seeing animals being exploited, especially violently. I don't want anybody to get hurt but I know we have to defend our water.

+Neoteric Phoenix There are dozens of pipe lines that cross this river and its tributaries. They pose more risk than this one does to 'your' water. No, I think there is a larger political component behind the actions of those who organized this lawlessness.

I saw one of the dogs bite one of the horses. That yellow shepherd is emaciated and probably abused. I am sure this contractor hired some shitass private security contracting firm. These weren't police.
@candiduscorvus8 жыл бұрын
These were most definitely not police. I don't know who those so-called security people were but they made a bad situation worse.
@Changtent8 жыл бұрын
With no remorse, and no concern for the injured people they left behind.

Yeah, clearly.

I noticed that (emaciated shepherd) too. Makes me absolutely ill. I wish I knew who these "security" people are. The woman had no control over her dog, & the rest of them put their dogs in danger, especially around the horses. And of course allowing a dog to go after a horse or a child..........UFB.

Did you notice the man advancing on the dog and poking it in the face with a flagpole? Perhaps that's where it got its bloody nose and mouth.

Thank you, Amy Goodman. the company and govt said these people were violent. The violence I saw was bulldozing their sacred sites on a holiday weekend with no warning or permission by ANYONE, (because sacred sites and artifacts were found on that land on Friday, the the people with the bulldozers wanted/were ordered to erase the evidence!) and the macing and attacking people with dogs. This video proves that. Thank you for being on the front lines with them
