The juxtaposition of Dakota caressing, smelling and vocalising her ardour for each book she is presenting and then throwing them almost violently on top of one another is truly masterful.

I have an uncle who has preserved this beautiful tea set for almost half a century now. It's a beautiful blue bone china that belonged to his aunt and was passed down. Unfortunately, one of the cups was smashed to pieces and he was devasted for a while as it is not being sold anymore. Fast-forward 2 years, my british cousin found an old run down thrift shop in the middle of absolute nowhere (he described the environment as being more akin to a scrapyard). And in this old run down thrift shop was a tiny collection of the exact same beautiful blue bone china mugs going for 50 cent a piece. Never before did my family see a value in thrifting until we saw the pure joy my uncle had when he recieved them as a present.

I'm so happy you took the time to speak about slow fashion. Fast fashion is so deeply harmful for so many different reasons. As a person who grew up needing thrifted clothes due to economical status, literally the best quality clothing I've ever owned in my life has been second-hand. People say things like "but [places like Shein] are important for poor people!" Nope, no they're not! I wouldn't ever dream of spending more money on something that will only last a fraction of the time. Online thrifting is becoming more accessible, too. Anyway, this is something I feel super strongly about 😅 Thrift stores are treasure troves, thanks for the video!

Tbh the finds here are really amazing and you'd never find stuff like this in Los Angeles. Our thrift stores are full of tattered Shein and other fast fashion garbage since resellers buy up anything else before we can even get to the thrift shops.

All my life the things I’ve had, the things my family has had, have been secondhand. I grew up with not a lot of money, and now as an adult I still don’t have a lot of money. Thrifting is the way I shape my life. I wouldn’t have the opportunity to be blessed with most of the items I am without it. I thrift books and clothes and furniture and decor. I’ve been able to create my own personal aesthetic on things I’ve gotten secondhand. I even paint my furniture and walls using half off paints that have been brought back to home hardware stores because they were the wrong colors. It’s so beautiful to give things a new life and let their collective story live on. I am forever grateful to secondhand shops and the lovely people who choose to donate instead of toss their unused things 🤍

i’m pretty sure that a lot of the time the issue with vintage clothes fitting weird is that people wear different undergarments now than they did then, specifically bras. a lot of 50s/60s clothes are made to wear bullet bras or other bras underneath so without it it tends to fall a bit strangely!

Hello i just found your channel and i am so in love with the content you create and really appreciate your compassion while talking about the issues surrounding fast fashion and thrifting! Its so nice to see sincerity in online spaces ^ ^ I did want to point out that in Oranges Are Not the Only Fruit by Jeanette Winterson the main character seems to be lesbian and not only queer, i know queer is an umbrella term but in a time where lesbians irl are fighting to destigmatize the word and normalize it in everyday spaces i wanted mention it under this video. Happy pride everyone 🫂💐
