Learn how to make Dal Gosht at home with The Bombay Chef Varun Inamdar.
Varun Inamdar brings to your kitchen the best from the whole world & this time it's the famous Hyderabadi Dal Gosht, mutton wrapped in a perfect blend of aromatic spices and herbs. Watch and learn how to make yummy dal gosht only on Get Curried.
Ingredients
1 cup Toor Dal
6-8 pcs Mutton on bone
1 large sliced onions
1 inch pc Ginger
1/4 cup Mint leaves
1 tsp Haldi
2 tsp Chilli pwd
1 tbsp Dhania pwd
1 tbsp Garam masala
Salt to taste
1/4 cup choppedTomato
Juice of 1 lemon
1 lt ++ Water
Fried onions for garnish
Method
- Wash and soak the split pigeon peas.
- In the pressure cooker add toor dal, mutton, turmeric, salt, ginger, water and cook for 4-5 whistles.
- In a pan add oil and heat it up then add sliced onion, a pinch of salt and then let them turn golden brown, reserve a few for garnish.
- In the pan add tomatoes and cook them until they are nice and soft then start adding the masalas - coriander powder, red chilli powder, turmeric and garam masala.
- Check the dal and add some water to it
- Add the dal into the masala and mix it properly
- Let it cook for some time and now the Dal Gosht is ready to be serve
- Garnish it with mint leaves and juice of half a lime

This is not haleem it's dal gosht with rice,we make it on specially on Friday it's our Friday lunch moreover this is our main course in marriage meal menu. this dish is originate from surat, bharuch (Gujarat) Mouth watering and well presented

@@RP-fe3yf I think the video is shortened and edited so al the whistles are not shown. He said 4-5 whistles depending on your cooker. :)

Recipe is great as usual, but it took me so long to realise that pigeon peas = tur dal 🙄 Who on earth calls them pigeon peas.... Why complicate unnecessarily?

I was born and bred in Hyderabad, i can assure you this dish is not Hyderabadi, we have something close to this dish is called Daalcha but this one is difenetly not Hyderabadi.

Gross 🤢🤢🤮 nobody eats that in Hyderabad. There’s no such thing called as Daal ghosht. If you are taking about kaddu ka daalcha then that’s different but we don’t eat daal ghosht.

Why are you adding salt at the beginning of cooking DAL. Without salt DAL will cook better and you add salt later. Just an advice.

Meat takes so long to cook...d way its in this video is that it takes just 1 whistle to cook all d meat...but meat will remain raw ..when we cook..for meat we cook in boiling water for half hr..then marinate & then cook for 2whistles...then its cooked.. Its meat , which takes time to cook it's not fish..that cooked in just sometime

This is not the way to cook dal gosht. We tender meat and dal seperate..then after masala fried we add both together and put on dum. Mist of ur dal is whole bcoz u cant blend it with meat.. Where is kaddu in dal gosht?
