A Tibetan student of mine recently mentioned that he had lost his wallet. Knowing that he has a very small income, the rest of the class expressed sympathy and some even offered help. The student said: "It is no problem, I have everything I need - and the finding of the wallet will make some other person on this planet very happy, and that is good for everyone." These people are my favourite students - I learn at least as much from them as they do from me.

What is the secret of happiness? Contentment What is the secret of Contentment? Gratitude What is the secret of Gratitude? Compassion What is the secret of Compassion? Prayer How to pray? Think of the sentient beings (people and animals) that are hurting right now - open your heart to them - let your heart feel their pain - let their pain melt your heart - pray that peace, understanding, calmness, comfort and understanding comes to them. Think of the people and animals that are injured and are in physical pain. Think of people who don’t have food to eat. Think of the children who are starving. Think of the people who don’t have a roof over their head. Think of the children who are abandoned and don’t know who their parents are. Pray that those in pain get comfort, solace and relief and safety and protection that they need. Pray that until relief comes to them, they learn to take it with peace, calm and wisdom. Once you are done wishing peace, calm and wisdom to them - wish the same for yourself.

Without a keen awareness of other’s pain, there can be no true communication and no real understanding. Without true compassion, there can be no genuine connection. Without a keen awareness of other’s pain, one remains forever needy. As you start feeling other’s pain, as you weep their pain, your heart will start expanding and something miraculous will start happening. As your heart fills with compassion, your own pain will start losing its significance, importance, intensity and sting. As your compassion develops, your pain will first start diminishing and then, will become barely noticeable. Pretty soon your pain might appear to have disappeared. Without a genuine feeling for other's pain, without a true feeling of compassion, one can neither live well with others nor one can be genuinely happy. Without genuine compassion, without a true, heart-felt concern for others, one remains endlessly needy, greedy, selfish and stingy. Without true concern for others, your heart remains closed. True happiness can't enter such a closed heart.

I truly love her teaching and to me, it is important to have a teacher, otherwise i believe i may have had a hard time understanding many things in my book of the Lam Rim and others texts also. I also love having the classes with others participents, they may have questions that helps me understand other things and have a different point of view from other students and i must admit that i miss having them around me and practice meditation with them.

"Happiness comes from within" is one of those things that I heard countless times and always thought that it's BS told by people with no drive. But when you think about it, it totally makes sense. Your brain has to create the state of happiness. So why should an outside trigger like a car, a lot of money or a beautiful girl be necessary to put your brain into this state? It already has everything it needs, the constraints we set are totally artificial.
@luisabortolidance15185 жыл бұрын
Totally agree. Recently I saw an interpretation of this state of happiness which he talks about. We are living today in a era that thinks money is our unic purpose to be happy in life. This is the video I am talking about: kzbin.info/www/bejne/rp_LgKh7o5iYq6s. 🙂

Good for you, pal. I understand how you, even if you're an atheist, can relate to Dalai Lama. After all, some even say that Buddhism is not even a religion, but rather a "science of the mind", or "inner science". And, if you think about it, Buddhists can also be considered "atheists", in the conventional sense of the word; because the concept of God, in their perspective, lies within our minds, and not relied on some antropomorphic, all-powerful archetype. However, they say that until you don't discover this concept in your mind - through meticulous, investigative meditation practices I would say - you should remain skeptical.

Your mind truly opens itself to listen to someone like this because he is so open and humble. Unlike some others who proudly sit above people as if they're a special breed of human being. Granted, some of them posses just as much wisdom, but what they lack is the ability to put as ease the defense mechanism of the receiving mind.

the Dalai Lama has continued to demonize practitioners of wisdom Buddha Dorje Shugden (whom the Dalai Lama considered a demon) , he has openly encouraged ostracism and discrimination resulting in an aparthied within the Tibetan community and a split in the Buddhist community worldwide. Some many blind world leaders and Hollywood celebrities call the Dalai Lama "the most compassionate and loving person." On the contrary, Dalai Lama is a hypocrite and an intolerant dictator- he asks China to give Tibet religious freedom, but he commands his Tibetan community to ostracise the practitioners of Buddha Dorje. Their houses were destroyed, their children were kicked out of schools, shops and market hawkers refuse to sell them food and things, they are not allowed to enter the temples, whenever they go, they were cursed of worshipping the demon.

How interesting this is and how beautiful it is when you see Buddha in a human form, oh, we are so blessed to be in his presence. Today you should really watch out as you make your Karma my dear ones as death comes, you will have no power of words, money, skin color, religion, friends, or any body guard. so watch your speech and action you create. His Holiness shows us, who we really are capable of becoming. what he wears is not important, how he looks is important, the only thing you should be doing is listen mindful and clearly from your heart. now which level of mind are you in right now when you read this.

I got a chance to spent some time with one of the Buddhist guru... he was so good, narrating his life story.... I used to go for evening prathana with him during my holiday... but after 2 3 months he became so weak and thin when I visited him again... by seeing him like that broke my heart he showed me crying just to make me ok he said with his soft voice which was too hard to speak that he will be all ok, we would go to prathana again.... that was so lovely about him.... but after some months he went to heaven living us with good wisdom and memories... I learned so many things from him... and respect him a lot... I don't belong to any religion... happiness is when we got a chance to explore so many culture out in the world....

So many people think atheists are against religion and against god where the truth is we are against neither. We simple choose not to believe in something that gives no reason to be believed. From what I know of Buddhism, it does not ask for believe, it only asks that you try to understand. Buddism could be the religion of atheist, if atheist chose to follow a religion - but I could get behind it.
