I saw another video where he was asked if he ever felt temptation, and he said, "Oh, yes." and went on to explain that he would remind himself that he's a celibate monk. Whether or not he ever slipped up, I couldn't say. I'm guessing he didn't.

We are humans that still feel temptation, fear, anger, sadness, and so on and so forth. It isn't the initial thought...it is the snowball effect in which the thought leads to lust or craving, and lust/craving leads to action, and action leads to suffering. It is the letting go of the initial thought that is important. We are human to feel and think even wrongly...We are our higher self when we don't let these thoughts consume us. Peace be with u

There is no need for him to remind himself that he is the dalai lama because he is the mindlfow continuum of Avalokiteshvara. Remember, the 16 karmapa, when he was born, before he could even talk, he stood up and claimed that he was the reincarnation continuum of karma pakshi.
