I just turned 60 and fell in love - which I thought I was way past. It's lovely and I feel surprised and lucky. Though, now I am confronting the same questions of my youth. This talk reminds me what love really is - we are love - love is not on the outside and in another person. The learning and understanding keeps deepening. Thank you, Thay.

Always blows my mind to see downvotes on talks like this, though thinking about it, is not surprising. Mindfulness is challenging, and craving can create biases based in shame. I have compassion for the downvoters, may they find peace.

Amazing insight from a monk and that too so non judgemental and unbiased👌🏻😊. Sexual healing is impossible without an intellectual and emotional connection of the spirit. This b ful talk however is not just for young people. Many well into the middle ages and later years don't know how to say 'NO' either. Corruption of our dna occurs most easily n dangerously through physicality. When we are not in touch with our energies then be it money, emotions or sex, the boundaries continue to remain fuzzy for multiple lifetimes unfortunately.

I'm always amazed by the level of understanding of our teacher. Even those unwholesome behaviours of young people regarding sexuality he's able to deeply understand. This is fascinating.

The materialistic mentality spread by the corrupt Capitalist system has spread the desire for superficial quick fixes to be happy like physical beauty, status, wealth, consumption, shopping, power etc, but true happiness isn't found in anything without depth. That's why the very rich people try and buy happiness in various ways, but it's fleeting and leave's one even more empty and joyless than before. The whole advertising buisseness has added to the misconception.

Consumerism and Capitalism are not synonyms, my friend. It all comes down to the individual, our attachment to earthly possessions is not determined by the economic system we live in. In my life, I've experienced more greed and unhappiness in the "socialist paradise" I grew up in than in the "corrupt capitalism" that I was lucky to migrate to.

🥰thank you Thay! It helps a lot. I have a lot of sorrow due my husband use of pornography and prostitution in the past. I am considering leaving the relationship. I actually want to become single and in celibacy (what I already practice after all this pain of cheating). Sex related things only brought me problems and a lot of pain. It is no worthy.

Hola!

Just that easy eh? Just one lecture, and there should be no problem. You have no idea what you are talking about. Being trapped in the wrong body, not being you, is hell. It's depressing. You have no idea what it's like, unless you experience it. On top of that, you conflate this idea of beauty, with the body. Being trapped in the wrong body has nothing to do with beauty, or women's magazines. Yeah, sure, many of us want to be beautiful, men and women, bhikkus and bhikksunni's want to be as "spiritually beautiful as TNHinc," that's not the same as being trapped in the wrong body, being trapped in the wrong roles, not being able to be yourself, not being able to be yourself in your body, not being able to be yourself in society, with friends, with your partner, with your parents, at your dharma assembly, etc etc etc....And what happens when you're that person, you're laughed at, you're mocked, spiritual gurus make a project out of you, you get ostracized, ppl tell you are wrong, ppl allude to you being crazy, etc etc etc. . If you look things your way, than death is also your beautiful self. (See, I learned how to twist things around from your lecture.) Dude, don't talk shit you don't know about. And on top of that, take up a real practice like seated meditation. Then may be you won't be such an insulting dickhead.

I hear you. The real talk would be about coming home to who we are when we finally find ourselves, to fall in love with that person, and to transform the body to best seat its guest. That expression from self discovery is the death of alienation from humanity and the birth of our relatedness to it. Without who we are, we have no reliable way to connect with this world. We have no personal context, we're always masking because without our center we're held hostage by each moment. If we can't be who we are we can't be genuine, if we can't have genuine relatedness, we'll be stuck with the alienation that got us here in the first place. They should really know better than this.
