Hey, interesting development: Today, I got a call back from my local Nissan dealer. I have a 2011 with a 2015 24kWh battery that Nissan installed under Klee (the class action.) It's at 10 bars of capacity, and has about 40 miles of usable range with an 80% charge. I had gone in and asked to buy a new 62kWh battery from them, and the Parts guy said his computer was telling him *that* part has to be ordered through Service. The Service guy said they'd check my car first and see which battery they could fit in it. I just got a message that Nissan would sell and install a new 40kWh battery for US$13,245. (From the message, I couldn't tell if that's with installation or not.) But at least they're acknowledging it's possible, and offering to do it. And a $13K new battery is *much* less expensive than a $35K new car.
@DalasEVRepair3 жыл бұрын
The service center is unfortunately not informed well enough. There is no OEM solution for adapting a 40kWh battery to a ZE0 LEAF. If they order it, the installation will not be successful. But it would be fun to see them try :)
@stevejordan72753 жыл бұрын
@@DalasEVRepair Hm. I suppose they would give me my $13K and old 2015 24kWh battery back. But I thought all the batteries could be adapted to the ZE0 Leaf. I'd heard of at least two installs of the 62kWh battery (though not through Nissan.) Are you simply saying there's no official Nissan path for it? (I thought it had been done by some smart Finn.) Maybe my dealer has a bold tech who has seen your work, and wants to show management how they can still make money selling batteries.

And then we get a fantastic run-up of how the battery ID system talks between its components before you say, "that's enough for one video." Wait...what?
