I still have my Davey 28 Havoline shirt from then.... god I miss those guys. What a special time to be a fan. Those were the greatest times for me looking back, but damn did they ever get sad in a hurry. They say the good die young, a testament to just how good they were. @@Wannagobackto1980 even Dale knew Davey was a purebred driver and at one point in an interview he gave after Davey's death he said he might not have won seven Winston Cups if Davey was still alive. Clearly 1992 was Davey's year 2 win it all but one horrifying accident took it away. Imagine if Davey and Jeff had a rivalry alongside Dale, perhaps every race woulda been sold out faster than a guy could say Bob's your uncle.

@@M1lesJames Sorry back in the day if you could go 230 around Daytona they did it. Check Bill Elliott lap records and compare them today. Its it close to 50 mph difference. Sorry Bill Elliott is the best driver ever because he drove the fastest around most all tracks. He has almost any old time track record. After they made every car the same the racing sucks. I feel if someone can go 250 mph around Daytona they should be able to do it. That is real racing.

How nascar died? Look at Dale and Davie's boats. Two of the biggest and brightest stars at the time in nascar. Nice for the back then but they are just bass boats. Into the 90's and 2000's they started showing their yachts and million dollar RV's and big ass houses with acres of land and privet jets and helicopters. These guys were living better and pampered more then the POTUS while a family of 4 need to take out a second mortgage to go to a race.

JB Scott Definitely. 1992 should have been his year, i can't help but look at it as a mistake on God's part that Davey didn't win the Cup that year. He got hurt in 3 separate crashes. Cracked ribs, torn cartilage & a bruised lung at Bristol (that was unknown & went untreated until he crashed again at Martinsville 2 weeks later), re-broke the ribs & had a concussion at the Winston, broke them AGAIN along with his wrist, internal injuries & a concussion in the wreck at Pocono, then had to endure Clifford's death & STILL went into the final race of the season with a 30 point lead, only to be taken out in a wreck that he had nothing to do with about 75 laps from the finish. i'll never understand it. Seems like that stretch between 1987 & 1994 everything bad you could possibly imagine happened to a member of the Alabama Gang.
