If Sr. Never dies Jr wins 50-60 races 2-3 cups. You can’t tell me he wasn’t kicking all sorts of ass early on. He never got over his fathers death and you can tell by the Hendrick years he was a depressed man. Talent don’t mean squat when your mind ain’t right.

I have to agree. Jr's career would have been completely different. Also believe Sr would have retired after 2001/2002 to focus on DEI.

DEI would've finished 1-2-3 at Daytona like Ford finishing 1-2-3 at Le Mans, Dale would've retired and gotten fully behind his son's career, Jr would've won 2-3 championships. Just one more fucking turn....

TheRandom Yeah, that is all Dale was chasing. DW on wins list and the 8th title. Also, Dale Jr had several bad crashes that gave him concussions and/or knocked him out. I think he was never the same driver though after the fire crash at Sonoma in the ALMS car though.

This was the first race I ever went to. It really was something else seeing Senior's black number 3 and Jr's red number 8 on the track together back then. I doubt there will ever be a time where NASCAR can become as epic as it was during the 90s.

It was the team, when it changed so did the wins. When Letarte got on board, he turned the ship around. I believe Jr. would have gotten championship or two had Letartre not retired.

@da324 his best CC Was Tony Sr with Tony Jr as car chief he was more focused originally because Big E was overseeing the race Team operations all he had to do was drive. Life post 01 daytona 500 was drastically different and he admitted he only raced to be closer to DEsr

I think Dale did not know how to say I love you like some dads could. We know he lived his kids, but I think his pride or manliness made it hard for him to be an emotional loving dad like most fathers.

Great memory for Dale jr!! Can you imagine, if Dale's Daytona wreck hadn't happened... Dale and Childress were so pumped, going into the 2001 season, after finishing 2nd in points in 2000... His success as a car owner would have had him racing hard for that 8th championship! I think he could have done it!!

@@easyenetwork2023 I reckon it would have been in NASCAR as a driver, he would still have had that itch to compete. Mike Joy said in his last conversation with Snr after doing the 24 Hours with Dale Jnr he described it as the best week ever and wanted to go Le Mans have driven the C5 Corvette.

Still is. Heck, there isn't a wall separating the track and pit road at MIS. He could have just as easily driver through the grass and onto pit road to go back to the garage. Then he would have been long gone by the time the cars got back to the start finish line.

That all depends. If the wreck occurs well after the start finish line and there isn't a group of cars a good ways back from it, then yes, don't throw the yellow and Nascar has been using this practice under the GWC rules, I no I've seen a number of races were it ended - White Flag - Wreck - No caution. 4yrs ago at Michigan the last lap yellow had debri on the track and a car in the grass by the start finish line when they threw the yellow. It was the right call then as it would be today.

Back when Sr was still around, DEI was a top tier team that could win against Hendrick/Roush/JGR/Penske on any given day. Instead of letting Jr have 51% of a championship caliber team and she could be a silent partner and collect fat checks, she instead lets the most popular driver walk away and she's left with 100% of NOTHING. Great job Teresa...took only a few years to destroy what took Sr a lifetime to build. The Intimidator must be rolling in his grave.
