I’ve been an NHRA fan and a John Force fan for a very long time, and I’m proud to say I STILL love me some John Force...THEE NICEST man in the NHRA garage. I watched him step away from his awning while there was some heavy duty work going on on his car, into the pouring down rain to give a hug to an autistic little girl in Gainesville a few years back, and that sight left me a John Force fan for life. God blesses those that’ll go out of their way for the less fortunate...

Thanks for posting this, there's a ton of people with similar stories sharing them here as well. Never followed NHRA but I've always known who John Force was because he was so dominate in the sport he he always made the highlight shows. Hockey was my main sport, and we were blessed with our best players also being great people that went out of their way to make a fans day. The stories about Force are awesome, being able to tell stories like you did there makes it sooooo easy to be a fan of a driver and a sport. People that couldn't care less about funny cars will still be really interested in stuff like what you said and be open to hearing more about the sport if those are the kind of people involved in it. That's how you grow a sport, a fanbase and make a positive impact on the world.

After spending a lot of time with John in my teenage years, I have seen different versions of John. I have seen the love of his girls. Calling to ask their schedules when they were young to see how he could attend their events. His life is work. He knows how to tell a story. To embellish it. To connect with each person. He knows and so does the NHRA, that John is their survival. He accepts that responsibility. I have three heroes. John Force, Steve Spurrier, and my late father. They are all cut from the same cloth. Their work is their passion. They know how to connect and win. They know how to inspire.

John Force: "I was going to Graceland and the preacher, Brother Ford, started singing Amazing Grace. We took the rear-end out of it and won the manufacturer's Championship that weekend on Firestones. In 2004 Goodyear had a shootout that was fierce with Firestone. Reminds me of the Firebird I got when I was 16. By the way, I met my first wife when I was 16. Yea, and it's kinda funny now that I think about it, the high dive was sixteen feet at the local public swimming pool..". That dude is fired up!! I mean I can't remember the last time I watched something or someone so entertaining. And the story about your Dad and the level of respect he has for Him, and others in his own sport is really a breath of fresh air from anyone in the world you guys live in. I mean he is a legend himself. But talking about wanting to be like his hero Don Prudhomme. Class Act All the way.

Sadly yes! That's why I struggle with the concept of drag racing. Any jack ass can hit the gas when the light turns green and win! All a man or lady needs is a damn good car to do it in. Come on, this dude should be retired and counting his money, instead he's still drag racing at age 70 which is my point its too easy. Stick that old fart in a stock car or Indy car, he would've retired 25 years ago!
