Saying John Force is prone to a wide-open rant regularly is like saying when the sun is hot to the touch.
At the 1989 NHRA Chief Nationals hosted by the Texas Motorplex, Force was as hot as the mid-day sun when race officials disqualified him in the first round for hitting the outer boundary (the retaining wall) against Ed McCulloch. The only problem was - Force didn't hit the wall.
Force in the shutdown surveyed the damage to his Funny Car, which didn't have a single scratch. When race officials refused to hear Force's pleas, things got ugly.
How ugly did they get? Well, our video team at CompetitionPlus.tv, who originally produced the video for the folks over at the Texas Motorplex, ran out of bleep sounds to cover Force's argument with race officials. It's both entertaining and hilarious and, of course, classic John Force.
For those keeping score at home, that's 21 bleeps in four minutes.

They use what the sponsors give them. You can see he was driving an Oldsmobile race car, so the pit car was an Oldsmobile wagon. When Ford sponsored him he used Ford Edges to haul his cars, if he's driving a Camaro now, I'm sure they are Tahoes or something. Every NHRA driver uses whatever the sponsor provides. Leah Pruett uses Dodge's as her pit vehicles.

I got to meet Don Garlits at his drag racing museum in the engine room when I was about 10 years old. I didn’t even realize who he was because he was just wiping displays down and keeping everything beautiful. He asked me what my favorite engine was and I said Boss9, 427 cammer, than a flathead ford. I grew up in a car family and engines always were my thing. Don gave me a laugh and said something along the lines of pretty good taste for a kid. By the time the rest of the family got to the engine room he had went in back, upon leaving there was an 8x12 photo by the exit of the janitor I was speaking to. I said to my dad “I was just talking to that guy” as I pointed to the picture & lady behind the register at the gift shop said “Oh yeah, Mr. Garlits is here today” to which my dads jaw dropped & he went back in to find him. We waited in the car for what felt like 3hours to a kid (it was like 20 minutes), my dad came out pretty upset because the man was not to be found. The thing was I told my dad in the engine room that I had just been talking to a guy I think I had seen before.

I will never forget a video I rented back in the 80s. It was a series called “and they walked away” Force had his car completely Disintegrate by the end of the track. Nothing left but the roll cage and the parachute. They film him as he crawls out. What now John? “It’s Ok. We’ve got another car in the trailer”. Lolzzz

I got to meet the man himself around this timeframe, and what an awesome dude. I bumped into him in the mall - he had an on stage appearance and I was just at the mall incidentally walking behind the stage and recognized him. Spoke with him briefly - extrememly nice and cool dude. I saw him many times though the years but that first chance meet sticks out in my head.

Met John Force in the early 2000s. Hell of a guy. Just a wide open stand up guy. In my opinion that "meltdown" was about as polite and controlled as I've ever seen. In a sport like drag racing, especially after a wild ride like that, I would expect much more hostility. Just a class act. 10/10 still my favorite driver.

Must say that in my 50 plus years growing up in drag racing had I ever imagined hearing such "snowflake" babble. Understand the amount of adrenaline and tension each time the car is lit, without even taking the funds expended per pass to run into the mix. Add points gained or in this case stolen along with sponsor pressure and you may understand heated reactions. If a little language offends you in a sport like this may I suggest something more like curling would be a better fit for you...and this was mild!

in my opinion force was in the right if one of them cars makes contact with a wall you're going to see a hell of a lot of damage done to it and more likely the car would have been shot in the other direction after impact which would have more than likely caused him to cross the centerline which he did not
