I remember as a kid my dad took my uncle an myself to meet dale sr for autographs. My dad an me both sr fans but my uncle was a bill elliot fan. So sr signed all our items an we turned for a picture with dale sr an when we was done dale tapped my uncle on back an asked if he wanted his shirt signed at that time dale realized it was an elliot shirt so he gave that big grin of his an signed my uncle's shirt clear across the top taking up all the space an he told my uncle when u see bill tell him he will have to sign it on the back !! We have shared that story of meeting dale sr with many people an I will always remember that

What makes Blaney a really cool guy is that he sometimes goes on Twitter asking to come join him at a local bar/restaurant near the track to have some drinks and have fun with the fans. Don't see much drivers doing something like that.

Sounds like Dale Sr. Just his genuine interactions with fans. He knew how much that kind of thing meant to the fans. Big part of the reason he's still remembered 18 years later, golly 18 years. Seems like just yesterday. Number 3 on the track, number 1 in our hearts.

The "farm manager guy", his name was Bobby Ellenberg, my dad. His side of the story was as follows. That man was the diesel mechanic that serviced the Caterpillar front end loader. He was there at least once a month. Mr. Earnhardt and my dad totally trusted the man enough to where as I recall he had a key to the front gate, so that when he was going to be later than us leaving, he could let his self out and lock the front gate. The day of this awful incident was on a Sunday. Dale was in town but at his house (over on Lake Norman). My dad (Bobby), was at the poultry house and heard the report from the gun shot. He could tell it was close so he jumped in the truck and rode over to the power lines and seen that it was a buck that Dale had a real attachment too. (Folks I myself have seen this beautiful buck walk up to Dale in his truck and eat out of his hand) , so dad knew he (Dale) was gonna be PISSED!! Well dad calls Dale and told him what happened and Dale made a 30 minute drive in 10-15. When Dale got there he told dad that they (the poachers) would be back so they hid in the tree line and waited and sure enough about dark here they came. Climbed the fence and were walking down the power lines towards the buck when Dale told them to stop , dad said they (there was 2 when they came back) , took off running and that Dale was on that guy in no time. He (dad) said he was giving this guy a proper beat down when suddenly Dale realized it was the mechanic. Dad said when Dale did see who it actually was he went ballistic and dad told him stop you gonna kill him. ( That's when he stopped). Said Dale told him to go to the farm shop and call the game warden . Dad said he thought about it and said no your coming with me , I'm not leaving you and him alone down here. ( For a good reason). So they get up to the shop and call the game warden and the rest of the story was took place in court. As for the other guy (poacher) , he got away that day ( somewhat). Dad said he got to the woods , and dad said that fella was breaking what sounded like some awful big limbs as he was running , he had to be taking a beating himself . Said he could hear him in the distance ( oh ,unhh, just beating the crap out of himself). As a side note that mechanic came to our house 2 Sundays later to talk. ( You ask me he was just trying to save face because he took an ass whoopin) And man was that head knotted up!! As another side note he was a member of our community out in Mt.Ulla. That man brought a lot of shame to his family. That was a hot topic among the gossips for a while. His partner in poaching was his daughters boyfriend whom I went to school with previously. Dale Jr. You could at least call ( the farm manager guy ) by his name, his name was Bobby, remember?

I raced IKF Sprint Go-Karts throughout the 70's-80's & Won a National Championship myself in 85 and I've had the Honor of being the cover-shot on a couple of race shirts, so I got a warm & fuzzy feeling seeing Dale Jr wear a Go-Kart tee-shirt on his very popular podcast 😃!! As for the Buckeye Bullet's young'n, love that kid! Nascar really NEEDS Ryan to start winning more races & doing battle with Awesome Bill's boy for Wins & Championships. Maybe if that started happening on a regular basis & maybe RC's Grandkids start winning & battling with the other two on a regular basis! 😃!!
