It's sad that pikes peak raceway doesnt really race any series anymore. Mostly used for its parking lot for concerts and food truck events. I'd be stoked to watch any race here again!

I miss PPIR! This track was a testament to the fact that LESS banking lends itself to a better show. As that surface aged the racing would have only been that much better as the groove would have widen out to the walls. The Busch series always put on a good show there. One year Johnny Sauter and (I think) Martin Truex Jr battled each other side by side, lap after lap for the lead. However, for the inaugural Busch event there were empty seats and it never got better. I lived in the area for many years. One of the last IRL races there I remember tickets were being distributed by sponsors for free just to get people to turn out. It's a shame but I made it there a handful of times and tried to do my part.

Tony Stewart won his first IRL race at the same track a year earlier. He'd race there again two months after this race in the IRL, finishing third.

The 04 Gould’s pumps 250 was the first race I’ve ever been to. PPIR is a great facility with a great atmosphere. The Busch series racing was good and meeting the stars of today in their Busch series days was awesome. MTJ, Kyle Busch, Greg Biffle, and Jason Leffler I met that day and it’s crazy to see where they’ve come today

That #3 AcDelco Chevrolet of Dale Earnhardt Inc, when Steve Park and Dale Jr. drove was just a beautiful car to me. I loved it. I absolutely loved it. Once of my 2 favorite schemes on any race car I've ever seen!!

Nascar owns the track already ... ISC ( International Speedway Corporation ) owns the track which is a subsidiary of NASCAR .

@@7natcho ISC sold Pikes Peak in 2006. They bought it out in 2005 just to shut it down, as ISC was looking to build a track in the Denver area and didn’t want any competition. They sold it to its current owners on the agreement that they can’t hold races with pretty much any series worth a damn. The Denver track never happened, because of course it didn’t, but yet the ban on hosting big races there still stands.

If I remember correctly Nascar/ISC wanted to build another 1.5 miler closer to Denver, and in order to prevent competition from PPIR they sold the place and had the new owners sign a clause stating that they aren't allowed to host any major racing series again. Shortly after that the plans for the new track in Denver fell through.
