Kilted Pipe Bands Tug of War challenge during the 2024 Tomintoul Highland Games in Moray, Scotland

Friendly rivalry as members of Ballater & District Pipe Band (in blue) take on Huntly & District Pipe Band (in green) in a tug of war challenge. This was during the 2024 Tomintoul Highland Games on Saturday 20th July 2024 in Moray, Scotland and a clear win for Ballater Pipe Band.
The tug o' war competition is one of the traditional events at Highland Games and part of the Grampian Games open qualifying events. This fun event was held during a break in the competitions and we suspect some drinks may have been enjoyed before, during, and likely after this competition.
The Tomintoul and Strathavon Highland Games have been held for over 180 years and are always on the 3rd Saturday in July. The village of Tomintoul lays claim to the title of ‘the Highlands’ highest town’ at 354m, or or 1,160ft.
