Greatest thing about these trucks they have an automatic oiler system that keeps the frame lubed and all the components running like they rolled off the factory floor

Believe it or not it's not leaking I actually applied rust check oil spray as a rust prevention spray.

Check your motor mounts. The engine may be moving because of torque and stretching the linkage.

That's a great point! I'm getting a weird noise that I thought my exhaust was hitting something every time I throttle up too. You may be right.

Turns out my trans cross-member bushings had worked themselves loose!! My motor mounts were good. Just got new nuts and torqued down my trans cross member bolts to 150ft/lbs. That cummins shook them off! No wonder I had to adjust the linkage the whole trans was shifted to one side.

Good deal I'm glad you caught it before it could get worse.

@@howardhudson7214 you saved me! I thought it was just the exhaust hitting something making a weird noise when I was accelerating! Haha

That's awesome. I had an old Ford that when you torqued it up the 4x4 shifter would hit the floor board and pop it into 2wd. And that was the same problem. Loose trans mount bolts.

I miss my pit lab riding in my truck with me. At 17 though he can't get in even the floorboard without a lift anymore. 😞

Earl's 4 and he still has a tough time jumping up to the seat! Don't know if I'd be able to lift him too well he's about 80lbs of big furry dog haha.. we all get old though I guess.

Hey where did you find that manual my linkage shifted when I redid my cab mounts and now I have to get an exact spot for park,reverse,neutral,and drive (the 2/1 as well) just want to see if there’s anything I can read that could also help me
@OvensGarage Жыл бұрын
It's the factory service manual. If you go onto the Facebook page 1st gen cummins (89-93) you can download a copy from the files tab of that group.

Great video, is that your TV cable that is unhooked? Hope you unhooked it and make sure its back on. those guys in Texas (Precision Transmission ) say that is a super important to have transmission pressure correct. again GREAT video thanks PS: sure like your gauges above the mirror instead of the gauge pod on the pillar.

Hey Jon. Good catch. I honestly didn't even notice that when I was down there. I just hooked it back on this evening. Wonder how long it's been un hooked.. hoping I just accidentally bumped it off when I was down there.

Hey man how’s it going I was just watching your video where you hooked your transmission gauge. the port you used did it end up working out OK ?
@OvensGarage2 жыл бұрын
Yep the test port location I used has been working okay. I think the route I've decided to go long term is in the pan though. Next time I service the trans fluid I'll get a deep pan with a port for a sensor and get my reading from the pan instead to get overall fluid temp instead of at the test port. The test port still works but I think it's more of a heat soak temp and not overall fluid temp.

I would go to the quarter car wash and leave most of that nasty, and finish up with a case of brake cleaner. Then replace all of the bushings, then check the adjustments.

Haha. I prefer to have my chassis oiled up. It prevents rust!
