The Movellans would have wanted to create a virus so specific and unmutagenic so it wouldn’t have any affect on anything else. Davros is an original Kaled and the Daleks structure is vastly different to him, so he wouldn’t have thought about it. However it would appear that the remaining similarities was that which the virus destroyed

That;s one of the things I love. It's clever that he overlooks something like that and accidentally messes himself up when he releases the virus. It's like poetic justice. Made even more sweet when the prison system has failed to contain him and the Doc can't bring himself to execute him. Davros' defeat comes from his own actions' unforeseen circumstances, like kharma!

Their voices are actually their thought patterns translated into speech. They literally think like machines. The casing is wired in that way so they can communicate directly from their thoughts. This is literally their scrambled thoughts as they die.

He went on to be the first director on EastEnders and the producer of Byker Grove and EastEnders. He also edits his own page on Wikipedia as Kmfcambodia! Interestingly, though, Peter Davison didn't particularly rate any of the directors on Doctor Who apart from Graeme Harper and makes that pretty clear on the DVD commentaries for Mawdryn Undead and Warriors of the Deep and the documentary Come in Number Five. Well worth checking out.

Not so much the early stuff. It got darker towards the end of his time as Eric Saward started to exert a greater influence as script editor. This culminated in the grim themes and violence of Colin Baker's first season, which was given by Michael Grade as one of his reasons for putting the show on its 18-month hiatus, and when it came back with the "Trial" season they were under instructions to reduce the violence and use more humour.

Personally, I think the Daleks should be led by an Emperor Dalek, not a Supreme Dalek. The Supreme Daleks should just be military/combat leaders, not political leaders.

In many books and the Big Finish Audios, the Supreme Daleks (including The Dalek Supreme form Planet of the Daleks) answered only to the Dalek Emperor. The Black Daleks are the equivalent of generals. Plus this was in a bad era for the Daleks - they just lost a war and their forces were in shambles still.

Davros controls a legion of Daleks, that will obey his honour. The Supreme Dalek's Daleks are an opposing faction to the ones that only obey Davros because Davros wanted to make the Daleks more advanced and loyal to his purpose of conquering the universe. Ultimately, this broke out into racial hate of impurity and the two opposing Dalek factions went into civil war.

@@chrisgilbert9407 If you watch the episode, there's a scene were Davros said he needs two Daleks for experimentation to work on a cure for the Movelan virus but it was a ruse to trick those two Daleks so that his assistant can prod them with Davros's needle to inject a kind of mind-control altering effect. It was two Daleks that Davros had control of and a few Troppers as well unless he managed to get controll of more Daleks that wasn't shown to the public.

@@samuelbrooks1533 I agree that the voices in Resurrection are far more effective than in Revelation, where Graeme Harper made the big mistake of taking the voices down to make them sound more human - but that had the added effect of making them less scary. The scariest thing about the Daleks was the voices!

Resurrection might have worked better as a 6 parter rather than 4. There's too much plotting & too many characters. The Dr never meets Styles or Lytton. Another draft or two to polish the script would have helped . I did like Tegan's leaving scene , however .

Actually it's a pretty bad story, the plot of this is all over the place, but the voices suck a hell of a lot more in the following season's "Revelation of the Daleks", where the voices were taken right down and Roy Skelton sounds more like Zippy from Rainbow than in any other story.

@@MALONEYCAMFIELD Also they didn’t have a definitive setting for the ring modulator so that’s why they had re-record Some of the dialogue for the Daleks in that story for the 2005 DVD’s 5.1 mix, I just wish they did it here too when Roy was still around. P.S. this story and it’s 1985 follow up is coming from the writer of what some fans consider the best Cyberman story of the 80’s Earthshock, but it’s not that story. P.S.S. It could’ve been a whole lot worse it could’ve been Day of the Daleks.

The thinking was that because the Daleks were converted from human beings in that story, they should sound more like human beings. I can see the logic of that, but it misses the point that the scariest thing about the Daleks is the voices.
