Overheating Issues FIXED! | Land Rover Defender 300 Tdi

The Land Rover 300Tdi engine has a bit of a quirk. I've owned two and they've both over heated and burst their coolant tanks. Better thermostats, water pumps and a clean radiator all help. In this video I replace the burst tank and do a few odd jobs which I've been neglecting. Replacing the coolant reservoir, or expansion tank, is a very straight forward job on the Defender - anyone can do it. I hope this video helps.

I bought an aftermarket PCH117840 ( county brand) and fitted it a year ago, the vehicle is a donor for a defender conversion so has not been run for more than a couple of hours in total and it has already failed, brass “Y” pieces arriving today to replace the stupid plastic part 👍🏼🇬🇧

PCH117840 You have to check if the vent starting from the thermostat is free and also change the thermostat if the tdi300 motor does not work should be brought to temperature before accelerating abruptly ( the head is aluminum the cast iron monoblock) ...

Thank you. I know it's had a new thermostat in the past couple years. I'll keep an eye on it but I think I got away lightly and I'm hoping it didn't warp the head.
