How about dear human beings? Haha... I find your reflection very interesting, in fact, before reading your comment I have been reflecting on the SAME... But let me make a CRITICAL statement, that is, QUESTIONING: Why do YOU BELIEVE that you have a GREAT INCAPACITY, as you mention, to IMAGINE certain things within your PSYCHIC apparatus? DON'T YOU BELIEVE that NOT being able to do something that EVERY HUMAN BEING DOES is a FULL FAILURE within your psychic apparatus? That is to say, you are thinking, as a human being who is NOT looking for the ROOT of his inconvenience... I want you to understand me, THE HUMAN BEING, self-corrupts himself and by NOT knowing how to repair himself, he then looks for TOOLS that make up for HIS INCOMPETENCE... Do you think it COHERENT that we do that? Do you think that we SHOULD use technology to SUPPLY our SELF-INDUCED psychological flaws? You can tell me; I have not decided NOT to be able to imagine. Ok, I accept it, but... You DON'T THINK you have a BIG PROBLEM, because you CAN'T imagine? Let's say that you have not self-generated said inconvenience, as I have stated before, but even so, you STILL HAVE said inconvenience, right? So... What do we do about it? Do we look for the ETIOLOGY of said inconvenience, or on the contrary do we use technology to NOT SELF-KNOW OURSELVES and then CONTINUE AVOIDING THE ROOT OF OUR CONFLICTS? Tell me HONESTLY, what do you think is the most appropriate thing to do in your case? Use technology MEDIOCALLY to AVOID our ROOT problems or on the contrary, use it AFTER we are already HEALTHY?... Do you get me?... Kind regards, teacher. A big greeting from Argentina.

These text-to-image generators need to allow for users(individual or team) to add their own subset of image data to the training dataset. By using that new added image set along with their own unique caption data the user could extend the possible image styles. This would allow for even more specific and nuanced image outputs. LOTS of individuals and cgi teams are sometimes going to want as much precision as possible.

I used to be a professional visual artist, but now I mainly write and take photos. What excites me about this tech is the opportunity to cram more of my personal expression into the amount of life that I have been given on this planet. Words are my current fav for self expression, but visuals can add a lot to not just the experience of those words, but in discovery of that text. If I publish a blog for instance, I always include a photo, as I find that many folks use that visual to decide whether they will spend time reading the text. Visuals embedded within the text can also provide extra layers of info and expression. Prob is the time it takes to create both compelling words and images.Computer based design software has sped up the production of visual expression, word processors have sped up the production of words, DAW have.... etc. I'm looking forward to seeing how much time can be saved using AI tools such as this :-)

I just would like to understand what is your purpose to develop things like this and where in your opinion are we going as a humanity? In my opinion things like this are negation of creating and the art - in art we admire the artist, not the result only, so where is the art, if there is no artist and creating process? Do not get me wrong, results of this thing are really breathtaking and in itself it's a piece of art, I'm not lying, but for the god's sake - it shouldn't be widely available, you have proven that it is possible, you are the boss - and it should be enough, otherwise you will be like Oppenheimer or Nobel who regretted their inventions, cause what - we will be living in the artificial world where computers are generating everything, books, images, music and we will be happy enough doing nothing? In my opinion a lot of people will lose meaning of their lives, fun and satisfaction of creating, and a lot of people will lose fun of consuming the art, cause art will become worthless if anybody can do anything without any skills and effort. People love to share their work with the others - and now their work will be buried under the tons of content from generators receiving ovations they do not deserve on. There will be no reason to learn and improve your own skills if anybody can release the same doing literally nothing. For who you will be creating books, music, movies or images, if anybody can generate own and do not need to watch your stuff? I'm not talking about work and / or money only, I do not earn money in this way. I'm talking about the art and creating, which requires some practicing and individual abilities, what makes the art beautiful - and generating content by puting simple phrase into text field doesn't look as an art or creative work. Imagine the situation that photographer spent years on making some huge photo project - this is what makes this project awesome, and now it can be put to the trash can, cause anybody can generate the same without leaving basement, all of efforts, patient, work, "soul" and "heart" put in it doesn't matter, cause anyone can say "I spent few years too", even if it's not true. It is not like using i.e. Photoshop to do that, which is a real tool requiring some skills and practicing - generators are not helping to draw, compose or anything - they are doing these things instead of us, it is drawing without drawing, making photos without making photos, making five years travel documentary without leaving the apartment. What is satysfaying and challenging in it? Generating lyrics in a way "computer, generate my text about love where every single word contains letter A"? Come on. It's like olympic sports on drugs - not fair to the audience, the competitors and to the art itself, cause in real you didn't do anything. We admire sportsmen cause of their efforts, work, limits and result of practising, not the (false) result only, cheaters are ashamed and disqualificated. Every painting we know will be worthless, cause everyone can create the same without any effort and say "I did it", go fûck yourself, Picasso. You are making awesome drawings, images, photographs and puting on Instagram? Go fûck yourself, your talent and skills are useless. You had written this symphony or simple song? Go fûck yourself, Chopin, I can make it by one click, you and your music are worthless. Things like DALL-E, Imagen, AIVA and more looks for me like spitting in the face of our artistic legacy (and in Salvadore's face also, using his name in this context is a shame). Making creating SO easy is killing the magic of creating nice things, and calling it "tool" is a lie, cause even stupid hammer requires some practicing, it won't hit the nail by telling "hit the nail". Yes, of course, I see the bright side of it, but in bigger scale I do not see more profits than disadvantages for society, it is not helping us in lives - it's taking away our humanity and fun of being alive. Human things should remain for humans. I really would like to understand your thoughts and goals, what is your purpose and idea? I really would like to understand people who sees so "WHOOOOAAAAH!" in it. What is your point of view? Or maybe I'm just missing something? Go on, change my mind, I really want to be wrong.

@@tobycat7 Will see - maybe I wasn't clear enough above, but what I really do not like in this, is opportunity of releasing direct, effortless result as an author / creator - publishing image "draw me a bunny with carrot" as yours is not fair to the other artists and the art itsefl, cause in real you didn't do anything. From the other hand - almost every designer is taking someone's images from stock or other sites as a base, so maybe it's better to think that it will be generating just more customized stock images. If it will be used as a base, not the final result "one click => short phrase => release", but still require any work / effort from you in detailing / improving / combining, then I'm ok with that - at least you did something, not copy-pasted only. Yeah, it will make a little mess with some creative works and smaller designs, but it is hard to believe that it can always generate exactly expected thing in first attempt (at least not now ;) ), any effort with detailing will be still needed and it's hard to believe (again) that anyone without any skills, imagination and kind of taste will be able to do that really nice, so maybe things will be not so bad - I'm trying to find some positives in it, at least it's better for me than getting angry ;)

I believe under some software licenses it's possible for the software creators to place a copyright on material made with that software. That doesn't mean you lose the copyright for anything you put in, however. They can only copyright what they add to or change from your work.* For example, if you ask the AI to draw your character, they can only claim the rights to that image, not the specifications you gave it. People would hate this for obvious reasons and it would be a bad deal for businesses. I'm sure they won't have such an imposing license. *Technically you can agree to just about anything, but if the agreement is obviously unreasonable then it might not hold up in court. Many websites automatically take a license to use anything you post on their site. You can't use their site without agreeing to this. They'll also say you can't post anything you don't hold the rights to.

A simple prompt like "A bathroom in the style of H.R Giger", when input in crAIyon delivers exactly what you'd imagine, a bathroom with biomechanical xenomorph looking surfaces and pipes, while Dall-e delivered bathroom's that are mostly flat metal with odd sinks. I tried "Spock and Kirk in Among Us" with crAIyon and got a blue crewmate who who's visor/helmet was shaped like Spock's bowl cut hair. When I tried the same prompt in Dall-e, I got what looked like 1990s video game box art render of two people, neither looking like Spock or Kirk or anything remotely Among Us related in the background. I tried being more verbose with Dall-e, submitting: "A screenshot from the video game 'Among Us', with the crew-members customized to look like Star Trek's Starfleet officers". It backfired spectacularly and gave me something that looked like another low budget CW young adults series. Pardon if I'm sounding overly critical, but I've been generating content for months using other (less-refined) neural-nets, and had very high expectations for Dall-E. Or integrated with AR glasses which acts like a 6th sense telling us things about our environment, look at a building, car, bicycle the AI tells us about it because it has thousands of images of them. Look at a person their entire social media history and bio shows

I guess it's kind of what Terrance Mckenna talked about with the "eschaton". social engineering will be just a small aspect of that. Can DALLE-2 be used for diagnostic imaging? Like for CT or MRI images if they are "grainy" and have the AI enhance them. CT scans use a lot of radiation and if the radiation dose could be lowered using AI that would be amazing. With MRI scans, it takes a long time to acquire images and maybe AI could be used to reduce scan times.

I've been an artist/graphicdesigner/illustrator for over 40 years, yup I started out analog. This is amazing, but yes I am concerned for the future of the art world...however I will point out that it is the very real" human energy" that an artist transfers to their art that make a piece of original art elicit response. Artists will know I speak of the [emotional/mental struggle /anguish/joy/pain etc.] that artists experience as they work ...this energy is reflected on original man-made works...that is why the original works are great...not sure AI will be able to capture that energyon its works. Progress is unstoppable however, and I am just as enchanted by this version of Dall-E as everyone else ; I am also eagerly awaiting my Dick Tracy translator watch, and my Beam me up Scotty teleportor. : )

The problem with AI systems is that they reduce human work but a lot of people need any work they can get. It can be advertised as human friendly or whatever, but we know its not in the bigger view. Tech is moving forward faster than the world in many parts. Its progress can literally starve people to death before we get to the super intelligent AI part. At some point, it may get rid of all our jobs and the only ones who live a decent life would be the rich people. Although, if everyone else is poor, how would they remain rich for long? No one buys from them. We need provision of free money much sooner to reduce the negative impact.
@sdfsdgsdfsdf234234232 жыл бұрын
Yeah there will be a revolution against the rich who earned their money before AI disrupted the possibility for new generations of people to make a living. Why should people recognize and bow to this old money if they can no longer realistically earn it themselves? I think not! That's no longer capitalism, but a form of slavery. But the solution I think is that AI will also inadvertently disrupt the very notion of money and wealth and even power.
