Absolute GOATs. The level of access you've been able to get in Italy from all these engineering firms is INSANE. Ferrari could learn a thing or two. LOL.

TBF, a lot of places like this would love to give a tour, just no one ever thinks to actually ask. In Dallara's case, they have everything sectioned off extremely well, so it isn't exactly a big deal to give a tour there since there's just a lot of doors that just won't get opened lol. Most of these places are run by passionate people(because you don't get into motorsports to make money), so a lot low key love to show off these places and the work they do because it flies under the radar for all but the most hardcore of fans. But obviously it's going to depending on the specific business of course, different circumstances and such.

What are you talking about.. you can fly to Maranello and have a tour at Ferrari whenever you want, I've done that with my high school. Obviously you won't be able to see everything (just like in this video)
@spdcrzy8 ай бұрын
@@martin-1764 LOL but good luck trying to touch, let alone sit inside ANY Ferrari at Maranello. Dallara is letting people poke around LITERAL ONE OF ONE historical racecars. Ferrari would shit themselves just thinking about people doing that at their precious headquarters.

Fascinating tour. Inspired me to take a closer look at the SP1000, which is such a gorgeous little car. I've always had a thing for prototypes, and that adorable little Group 6 car won me over _immediately._ So sleek, too - looks like a fricken Bonneville special. There's a fine line between respecting Dallara for building objectively badass cars and resenting the fact that they're the only game in town in half the series they build cars for. Wish they had more competition in the single-seater arenas especially, but good to see 'em thriving.

These guys have _decades and decades_ of proven motorsports experience, this walkaround inside their shop is absolutely fantastic! That concept car is mind-blowing! True, they've cornered the motorsports "market" with their chassis designs and racing car manufacturing, but _man_ do these people know how to build a racecar.

Please can you do a documentary specifically about the Dallara Icsunonove? It's the car that's got "Dallara Bertone" written across the front in big letters - THAT CAR. It's not called a Stradale as in 037 Stradale (the street legal version of the 037 Rally), but you can see it's really a stradale type car. It's got a wing, a longer wheelbase, a wide body, harnesses, and functional fixed position rectangular headlights, quick fuel fillers etc It's a prototype street legal version of the successful Group 5 X1/9 Dallara. Next to it is the (also successful) Lancia Beta Montecarlo Group 5. As in the (later) Uno Turbo, these cars all use the small block Lampredi, whereas the Beta 037, Delta HF, Beta Montecarlo Spyder, Beta Volumex, Ritmo Abarth 130TC, 131 Abarth Rally, 131 Mirafiori Sport, all use the big block Lampredi. (I assume there are 2 different blocks I don't actually know but the SOHC 8V was factory stroked to 1500 (X1/9), then 1600 (Stilo), and has a theoretical maximum capacity of 1800 whereas the DOHC 8V is over 2000). X1/9, Uno Turbo, Punto GT, Ritmo 105/125/130TC Abarth etc all use identical OEM gearbox overhaul kits. Digression yes but the Kimera, the 037, the Montecarlo, the Delta S4, all have longitudinally mounted engines. The Beta and Delta otherwise had transversely mounted engines (Volumex, Integrale), even if they were mid engined (Montecarlo Spyder, X1/9). The only car in the group that never got the longitudinal installation was the XI/9. Pretty sure the Triflux engine from the Delta ECV, or the developed version from the Kimera, or the engines from any of the 037's, are more or less designed for the Fiat X1/9 😊 Therefore could be used in a remake of the Dallara Icsunonove featuring the same longitudinal installation👍 If Fiat had decided to develop the X1/9 not the Beta for the WRC, logically it would have been called the X1/9 Rally and have been designed and built like the 037 Rally. The ultimate X1/9 therefore would be supercharged, with an Abarth or possibly Dallara or Alfa Romeo 16V head, mechanical or electronic injection, ZF or Colotti transmission, front and rear spaceframes, longitudinally mounted engine. Or the ultimate X1/9 could be called the Icsunonove Rally (either the car just described, or an even more developed version of it based on the Delta S4 to include the Torsen AWD transmission and turbo-supercharging. Haha all I need to do is hope everyone else continues to think I'm crazy and this is a terrible idea. Maybe is a terrible idea, or it would be if it turned out to be slower than Gianluca Ticci's modified X1/9 Dallara or Manuel Dondi's modified Dallara. Both of which are transverse engined with inline transaxles like any other front drive hatchback😂 Like Ritmo, Delta, Prisma, Uno, Punto, Stilo, 155 et al - they all go back to the humble 128 and 128 Sport 😂 Was it actually Marcello Gandini who thought to flip the head thru 180° and use it in a mid engine car or was it Gianpaolo Dallara? Or was it Aurelio Lampredi's idea to design an engine with an inline transaxle that could be used front engine front drive or mid engine, rear drive applications🥴🤔 I have no idea but you can clearly see Manuel Dondi's X1/9 has an Alfa Romeo cylinder head (Alfa Corse) flipped through 180° so the induction is to the front, just like in the Icsunonove. Even if it's naturally aspirated it's still an insanely quick, 285bhp/ 650kg silhouette racer with the Hewland (or X-Trac) 6-speed sequential. In other words the engine and transmission from a works Alfa 155D2 Superturismo, a successful touring car preceding the 156V6 DTM. You should try to interview him.
