Patrick Duffy was great on Dallas and hilarious on Step By Step! I met him several years back at an autograph show. We were standing in line waiting to have our picture taken with him. He came into the room, jumped in line, and said "Who are we waiting for?!" Everyone laughed so hard when he did that! 😅

Excellent. Maybe some of these things had to be in the final show. P.S: This answers my question whether Ewing Oil office was real location or studio. Yes, the original in season 1 was real location. And maybe even this one (though it was weird there was nothing but kilometers of forest between this building and other skyscrapers back in 78) at the beginning (cca. episodes 8 - 9). But around the Red File two-parter it was the studio.
