In later episodes, Bobby discovered that Kristen never miscarried, but actually gave birth in Los Angeles & her child was Christopher, who Bobby & Pam had already adopted. If I remember correctly, I also believe, Bobby discovered that J.R. was the father, though J.R. never knew this. Bobby discovered all this, when he gained access to Christopher’s official, legal adoption report. He saw that J.R. was the father & he deleted J.R.’s name from the report, so J.R. would never be able to ever claim him.

This is the highest rated season ending cliffhanger of the entire series. It wasn’t until after “A House Dived” episode, originally aired on March 21st 1980 and CBS started rerunning Dallas’ 1979-80 season while the show went on hiatus until the fall, that Dallas exploded into a world wide phenomenon that it became. Also, The writers strike that postponed the 1980-81 season even longer made the suspense even greater! But the highest rated first run Dallas Cliffhanger was This one. Also the exact date this aired, May 1st 1981, Was Jim Davis’ funeral and burial. I miss the simpler days of Tv when you had to actually stay home to watch a particular tv show or miss it all together. Hardly anyone had BetaMax or VHS to record them and there were only Three major networks.. Also, each scene didn’t pass by at lightning speed like it does today because of the attention span of the viewing audience. (I never understood how they came up with that rubbish!) The actors actually acted out the scene without the constant angles and shots of the scene. The new Dallas got me dizzy with all the fast moving cuts of the scene. I think it’s just an excuse because Not many young actors have actual talent to hold an audience’s attention, so the producers have to keep changing The shots.. Hollywood today, relies more on the physical looks of its stars rather than their talent. Studios should offer credible schools by professional acting teachers to help these New actors hone their craft; line the old Hollywood Studio System back in the day..

Watching this over, and the follow-up episode, it really was poorly executed. First, Mary Crosby was 120 pounds tops, how could she push thru the railing in the first place even if she was high on drugs? Second, if JR was in the other room on the phone, how did he not hear the crash and fall? The coroner ruled she hit her head, but the COD was drowning. If JR heard the fall, he could have at least gone downstairs. If it happened so fast, she wouldn't have drowned so quickly before Barnes arrived. Then, the opening episode was even more crazy. JR was never charged in the case but they had him in front of a six-person jury, who ruled the death accidental.

When this season was ended with this episode everybody thought the body in the swimming pool was Pam . I was terrified . I was a child and it wasn’t impossible that Pam was died . I said : if Pam is died I never watch Dallas anymore . 😉 Krystin was a good character. Sometimes the production made a bad choice with the cast . It was better to keep Kristin in cast. As Mark… Jaimie … Katherine … Afton. They deserved to keep in the cast They could give a new breath for the writers … And when Pam left the show …the show was over.

The studio also NEVER purchased the ranch. By season 12, 1989-90, the ratings were very low and they didn’t have the $$ to go to Texas anymore.
