DJ m- I keep telling people that old school music and shows are better. Why? The storyline and lyrics. They wrote better back then. They sang with feeling back then. Held notes longer. Voices sounded better. In tv shows the people acted better. The guys playing the bad guys LOOKED like bad guys. Today's stuff is good but can't compare to old school stuff. Nowadays if we're at home and bored we'll check out a tv show that we've heard about. Back in the day when a tv show ( like Dallas) came on everyone would MAKE TIME to be home watching it. And talk about it the next day at school or work.

I can still see his smile or laugh now. I loved the way they would end the show with a freeze frame. Larry Hagman once said that you would have to continue acting out the scene because you would not know when they would cut it. I guess the actors would have to do some ad libbing and pantomiming towards the end of the scene. It was great. I loved the cliffhangers too. I read that the initial concept of the show was a Romero and Juliet theme in which the families hated each other and wanted to break up the happy couple. Great show. Great actors and great writing ✍️. It would be great if they brought back more original shows and character driven shows/ dramas.

The funny thing is, Larry Hagman was so good that no one realized that he was actually too old for the role. He is just 9 years younger than Barbara Bel Geddes, 18 years older than Patrick Duffy, and 15 years older than Ted Shackelford. Overall, Larry Hagman is clearly a good 10-12 years older than the JR Ewing character.

Whomever put this together, i wanna say thank u VERY much! This was GREAT! Mr. Hagman did somethin that takes talent: taking a character that was everything u hate in a person and still make u wanna watch him every week! That was the testament to his genius. Without Mr. Hagman this show would’ve died a quick death.

Larry Hagman was really drinking on the set. By his own admission he was a full blown alcoholic and always had a glass of booze within arms reach on the set. He sobered up towards the end though.

***** Tony's primary weakness is the vagina. Texas slang is poontang ; Jersey slang is cooze . JR would set the trap because Tony Soprano would never turn down a red hot piece of ass and JR would have the best at his disposal . Tony doesn't. JR doesn't really fall into those traps . What I would love to see as a brief sideshow is Jr's sharp barbed tongue go to work on wise ass Paulie Walnuts ..

JR Ewing was definitely the tv character ever & the greatest tv villain of all time. The late great Larry Hagman played him up to perfection. If they did a remake of Dallas as a movie & have another actor play JR Ewing no matter how good they are they won’t be able to hold a candle to Larry Hagman. He can not be touched.
