I hope Dallas keeps him for a long long time. The guy is seriously just a regular guy who’s passionate about police work. Something you don’t see in chiefs these days.

Well considering that Texas is one of the biggest receiver states, i.e. gets more back from the federal govt. than they pay, I'd say that's an indictment on the state as a whole! That being said, I'm unsure where Chief Garcia is obligated to address issues on food and education since those are handled by other agencies.

@@cajayson8301 you are greatly mistaken, Texas is on the opposite end of that list and contributes more to the federal government than it receives.

boost morale by weeding out rogue cops who think they own their jobs. I respect professional, emotionally balanced police officers, who are tough but reasonable and smart. And stop blaming out of control behavior on adrenaline. Hiring practices have got to be overhauled to prevent emotionally unstable people with unsavory character traits. and let the crybabies go.

I kinda agree, but it has nothing to do with hiring procedures being underutilized. It all comes down to how that officer was trained. That's were the overhauling needs to be implemented. After Training academy that should not be were an officers training, knowledge and Skill development should end. They need to mandate refresher classes for firearm discipline, advanced driving courses, Physical strength and stamina upkeep also year round training in hand to hand combat/ martial arts (Jiu jitsu, Muay Thai, wrestling, boxing, MMA., Mental/psychological well-being exams and exercises. What you are demanding out of an officer is impossible they are still human not robots they can't be preset with perfect decision making while maintaining equally great stress management skills especially during life or death circumstances. There will always be accidents or mistakes and bad cops but what helps reduce thos accidents, mistakes and bad cops is consistent training, advanced knowledge and skills and lastly everyone in each police department being cohesive and helpful with one another. A police department should discipline and honor
