This was the MOST over the top cliffhanger of the show ever !! And totally out of Charater for Sue Ellen.. I can only imagine that the show was using "Replacement " Writers this season Due to the writers strike of 1988..?? And TV 11 Season Eleven did Not start untill late October of 1988.. Thanks for the upload !!

It ranked pretty high in Dallas cliffhangers when CBS had a Dallas reunion special in 20004.

@@zt1053 That special was the definition of corny...... and the cliffhanger countdown was pointless. Everyone had to know #1 was gonna be Who Shot JR and #2 was gonna be Bobby in the shower...... the only suspense (if any) was which cliffhanger would get #4 and #3 spots. ......at the end they're all sitting there saying, "Gee, I wonder what the #1 cliffhanger will be!" and I'm sitting there being thankful that their acting wasn't that bad back when they were filming the actual show.

As a college student, I had the same hairstyle and wore the same suit that Jack Scalia as Nicholas Pearce was wearing in the final scene. Linda Gray was and still is a beautiful lady and my favorite female character, with Susan Howard and Barbara Bel Geddes rounding out the top three.

The show was going downhill by this time as were all the nighttime Soaps. What is strange is the shot of the outside of JR’s condo building is the same building they used for Joan Collins penthouse as Alexis on Dynasty . They were on different networks …didn’t know they shared lol😎😎😎

This was so hammy. I feel sorry for Linda Gray. She had some great moments as an actor. The script and blocking was awful in that scene. I'd have fired the Director. That looked like Mark Jennings falling from Alexis's apartment in Dynasty

When this aired we all thought how lame with that first freeze frame. Was the cliffhanger to be the question - who fall to their death knowing it would most definitely NOT be JR. But no...the writers added Sue Ellen shooting JR as a bonus for the fans. Harkens back to 1980 when his shooting was the biggest whodunit of all time. Almost a pity that her aim was so off as we later discovered during the next season's premiere.

It was no mystery who went off the balcony it was Nick as clearly as the view was shown when he fell but the mystery of the season finale was did Jr survive from the gunshot wound.

The mafia had the worst image on Dallas. The show had 2 highlighted characters with mob ties. One got beat up and killed by JR and the other one was beat up and killed by Cliff Barnes. So, the mob-guys couldn't take down the two guys who'd lost fights to almost everybody else on the show.

Jr did beat Dusty in a fight at the hospital true that was the dream season but it wasn't planned to be at the time that scene was filmed

Forgive me for being so harsh, but whenever i see this scene, i'm surprised how rushed it seems. Poorly written, badly played and overall horribly executed. The camera hardly wastes time to build up any suspense, and the actors seem to just go through it. Where was quality control, at least for that important scene?

during the fight as you see the person go over the balcony if you pause it you clearly see JR on the Balcony do to body form and hair style..of course JR wouldn't die and at the time no news that Larry Hagman was leaveing the show.....we all knew he would survive and Nick wouldn't...........If JR did die I really wonder if Sue Ellen would be happy or sad..........her son would be sad but she hated JR so much over the years...would she really care if he died.

Ridiculos scene extremely amateur in direction and even in acting surprisingly. The fact that JR survived,and also there would have been no way back for any Realtions between Jr and sue ellen after this,even years later as in the reboot Although this wasnt a dream as such as in the dream season,it was just so bad and forgotten about in Dallas history it may as well have been
