In the scene with JR asleep as that bomb was beside him, I loved how the music score deliberately synched with the tempo of the ticking mechanism at the end, with a well timed freeze frame for good measure!! Brilliantly dramatic score!! 👍

The piano score, when Pam wakes up. Also during the whole 'Swan song'/Bobby dies-episode the piano score is beautiful. You can sense from it something final will happen.

Of course the scene where Bobby "died" was heart-wrenching, but a close second the scene in which Sue Ellen, after years of battling her alcoholism, broke down and grabbed that drink. Linda Gray really nailed that scene.

Thank you for this compilation. Most of the clips are by Richard Lewis Warren, who was the musical soul of 'Dallas'. So much evocative orchestration, perfectly matched to beautifully written and performed scenes. A most under-rated talent - although he did score the most episodes of the world's most successful TV show!

Two favorite scores I loved best. 1: In the 4th episode of the mini series Winds of Vengeance, when Jock and Bobby sneak through the kitchen and take down the two punks holding the Ewings hostage, 2: The romantic saxophone music played in season 11 when Bobby and April first become intimate while staying in a plush hotel room during their stay in Vienna. I mostly loved the music by Lance Rubin, who also scored the music for the three Incredible Hulk reunion movies in 1988, 1989, and 1990.

When Bobby flatlined and Pam is startled, made me jump when I watched it May 17th 1985. Again, the music was spot on

Something about Sue Ellen walking up those stairs (as dramatic as it is) speaks volumes. She finally finds her voice, finally has victory over her long suffering years. Shes not failling apart at thr seams as per usual.

Vincent thank you so much for uploading this..i wish you had more music scores from cliffhangers to upload..i thought i was the only one who liked music score-endings..These were the days of great primetime dramas with great cliffhanger music (Dallas,Dynasty,Falcon Crest) coupled with the freeze-frame technique,the exec producers titles and fade-out..Now this technique is long gone unfortunately..and i say that because it captured so well facial expressions of terror,anger,sadness as well as car crashes,explosions,fires etc..And the music most of the times was so great at the end..now it's usually synth bland..I'd propose more great Dallas music score cliffhangers like: 1.after SueEllen's and Mickey's accident with SueEllen in bed all wounded and JR apologizing, 2.when Katherine in blond wig (not seen) threw a glass at the TV screen, 3.when SueEllen shot JR at the season finale, 4.when Pam when to Hon Kong to find Mark Grayson and when she found out JR send her on a wild goosechase, 5.JR in the masqurade ball of Angelica Nero after shots were fired 6.when Cliff screwed over JR and the episode ended with that diabolical laughter There are so many i cant remember from the season of the big fight between Bobby and JR for Ewing Oil and Miss Ellie in the middle, or in season 10 or 11 with Weststar Oil.....Thanx again

plutoamor Many Thanx, .I thought also i was the only one who liked music score-endings. 2.when Katherine in blond wig (not seen) threw a glass at the TV screen, isn´t a Cliffhanger. You can see 1, 3, 4, 5 and much more here : kzbin.info/www/bejne/bGOXiGqPa7aljMU ... to be continued...
@plutoamor6 жыл бұрын
yes you are right about that Dallas episode..it was in a sense a cliffhanger episode but not season cliffhanger..actually it was just the one before the season finale..Thank you again for your beatiful compilation..P.S. Knots Landing had also some great music score but only through the first 5 or 6 seasons i think..then it was downhill music-wise..The season 4 finale with Gary at prison and Mac searching frantic for Diana has one of the most melodic ones..Also the one with the Val's twins when they tried to kidnap them

One of the best pieces of music from Dallas was from when Bobby died in the hospital. As much as I love the new show, one of the things that is lacking terribly in the show besides good decorating for the interior of SF, is a decent musical score.

one of my favorite pieces was during the 89-90 season when Bobby told Jean(Pam's lookalike) that he was going back to April. It was a really sad and depressing piece. That scene put into perspective Bobby's obsession with Pam even after she left him and Christopher. Another favorite was when Cliff met with Pam in her doctor's office, and she told him they would never see each other again.

I agree. The music in the last few episodes of the 1984-85 season was great, as was the music ending the 1982-83 season. Unfortunately, they revived some of the cheap, funky-sounding music from the early days for the 1986-87 season in a desperate effort to revive the show (which failed - miserably!).
@edrosa25236 жыл бұрын
redletter2008 Right. John Parker’s music did not fit in the 80’s. Unfortunately, that seemed to be the Executive Producer’s favorite and was used in all the season finales until the series’s end. :(

The best Dallas music scores came from Bruce Broughton, who had a real sense for drama. The worst came from John Parker, who wrote for every major character simple-minded, cliche-ridden themes, which were annoyingly overused in all his episodes.

The music after the dream season was awful! 1986-87 was the start of the decline of Dallas musical scores. They started with synthesized music and that real twangy hick background music especially when Cally came aboard
