I delivered Amazon packages in south Dallas from September of last year up until the end of May. I never saw anything too crazy except for people tweaking here and there and 2 ladies peeing in the middle of a side walk and one behind an old abandoned building. A man once jumped into my van asking me if I had a extra phone on me he could buy, I said I have a camera in the van so you can look but the camera’s got you on tape. Other than that people were nice and kept to themselves, a lot of elderly people are the ones hanging outside all the time.

As a former independent concessionaire on the road for four years, it doesn't matter where you go, the fairgrounds are never in a good section of town. It didn't matter where we went, you never left to get a pack of gum by yourself on or off the fairgrounds after hours. Always by two's or fours. The only exception to this rule was Miami-Dade County Fair in Miami, Florida. Long story there.

People get a lot a shit wrong about houston,,, like “traffic”. you gotta look for traffic and rush hour to hit traffic in houston. Tbh cant speak for dallas but i never hit traffic the time i was there… no geographic restrictions in texas so there aint non-construction related stopped traffic like there is in Florida or California or Colorado or New York. Use to make gasoline deliveries (1977 - 1981) in South Dallas for Exxon. Most of the owners were on cash only deliveries (credit problems) and needed their deliveries late as possible because of the small storage capacities. Most of these deliveries were after 11:00 p.m. There were many times that I was the only white face within 5 square miles. I would walk from the owners desk (most dealers had a firearm sitting on top of the desk to deter a robbery) while they counted out between $8k to $10k in small bills. I would carry the cash out to the truck in at least (8) 11"x17" manilla envelopes. There were ALWAYS guys sitting on cars, drinking beer, smoking dope and just hanging out. Willie Berry was a dealer that I delivered to all the time, I believe his station was off of Haskell Blvd. NEVER was I accosted, but I was always tested verbally just to get a reaction. Then I was usually offered a beer, which I politely turned down. Just because they were poor and black didn't make them bad folks.
