Do yourselves a favor, open up your cabinets for pipes to get heat and drizzle your faucets and make sure you UNHOOK your water hoses. It will keep your pipes from freezing and potentially bursting and will save you some $$$$. Better to pay a little extra on the water bill than replacing pipes. Oh and hearty soups, tea, coffee, hot chocolate are all good options to keeping your insides warm too. Stay safe everyone.

Kansas here. If this is even close to what hit us on Saturday be prepared. The freezing rain and sheets of ice made it deadly and then a 2 foot(or more) thick blanket on everything. The capitol city closed every road for 2 days and the highways are just opening Wednesday day. Every Infrastructure gets overwhelmed including grocery stores and road crews. The emergency services may not be able to get to you including police or fire or ambulance. Dig in and enjoy the snow and we all pray I am wrong. Good luck Texas, help each other out if needed.

@grondhero7 сағат бұрын
We're expecting 1-2" of snow. Except for the panhandle, Texas doesn't get much snow, so we don't need snow plows; we just put dirt on the roads. In fact, we rarely get 'real' snow. What we usually get is slush that freezes up overnight. EDIT: Just got an update that instead of 0.37" we might get 1-2 inches of snow. 😆❄☃

Big snow in *Dallas* ??? This has become a crazy winter! In metro Detroit, MI, there's hardly any snow cover and only a couple of inches of snow are predicted for Friday. It's weird seeing Cincinnati, Indianapolis, Dallas-Ft. Worth, and Kentucky with several inches of snow cover and Detroit with next to no snow cover.

@HelenByrd-yf9cf12 сағат бұрын
@unicornkeah in Texas we rarely get inclement weather, so we aren't equipped to handle the ice and snow like states up north who are accustomed and well prepared for it. Also, people up there are well experienced drivers in these conditions. It paralyzes our state, Texas, because we aren't equipped. People also freak out and go to the store and buy everything on the shelves as if they are going to be snowed in for a month. It's ridiculous how people over react to a day or two of snow or ice on the ground for a couple of days at most.

Folks aren't used to it here and we get really bad ice on bridges during freezes. We also don't have the plows or salt truck infrastructure like northern states do because we really don't need them. DFW is full of clueless drivers and if anything more than a fraction of an inch of rain happens, it can get nuts on the streets. Look up the I35 Toll Road pile-up during an ice storm in Forth Worth. The videos can be graphic.
