You geeking out over the squirrel reminds me of a story my mom told me. We were in a zoo and was driving in an enclosure with giraffes, zebras and so on and i'm around 5-6 years old and i suddenly yell and point "look a common blackbird" to one that was hopping around in the enclosure. The most common bird in Denmark. It would be like pointing out a dove or chickadee. My mom still laughs about it 20 years later 😂

Dav! You have to go to Omaha and see the other half of this herd of elephants! They were saved from culling and shipped to the states- half to Dallas and half to Omaha. Plus, Omaha has 3 babies who have been born (1 likely still off-exhibit because he is so new) from this healthy pachy family!

Hey. Dav, zooTampa also has a tunnel to do it from the main zoo to the Africa section. It’s not bad. Another zoo I like to go to especially around Christmas is the Bronx zoo in New York because of the fantastic animal lanterns

In Wrocław (Poland) they also have somewhat similar in building African exhibit called africarium (Africa and aquariums). It's nice zoo to visit if you ever think about visiting Europe again. Maybe for Hamm show?? 😊

I feel your disappointment. I went to the Perth zoo in Australia and was so excited to see a numbat (they aren’t at any of the other Aussie zoos I’ve been to) And they were off exhibit. Next time we went to perth zoo the exhibit was open but they were hiding- 2 hours of waiting to see them did not pay off. Sadly, I’ve still never seen a numbat 😢

I visited the Dallas zoo on March 31st and we will never be coming back. Staff was very rude to my mom when she asked them where the flamingos were and asked if "she could read" in a nasty tone. Same thing with the cafeteria, very nasty to my family when we placed our orders. And the breaking point was when the zoo keeper doing an animal presentation yelled at my little brother when he tried asking a question while he was talking. Never coming back again, I'd rather visit an animal shelter or someplace that actually needs the money.
